    Windows 11 sucks. I'm sticking with 10 for as long as I can. I have the LTSC IoT without a single problem. I see a lot of people online whining about Windows, blue screens, dead SSDs, and all sorts of other bullshit. I don't have any trouble with anything; it just depends on how you treat your system.

    That's why defender (fw or av) should never be installed in the first place. The same goes for the updating and edge browser. There is so much garbage embedded in win10/11 to make certain that stupid update crap stays intact that it is beyond ridiculous. The only way to get rid of it for good is to disable all updating mechanisms completely

    I never have any problems; I have my own solution.

    1) Add the folder where the plugins are stored to your antivirus exceptions.

    2) Extract the R2R Keygen using 7-Zip; you’ll then have a folder named “$TEMP” inside the plugin folder.
    Run Keygen.exe from this folder. The advantage of this method is that the keygen isn’t extracted to the Windows Temp folder first, which means the antivirus won’t delete it.

    3) Add the VST3/AAX etc. folder (where everything is installed) and the folders from companies like “Waves Audio” to the virus exception list as well.

    Make music.

    A LOT of the problems stem from having the production or "work" machine on the internet. Most of the issues encountered are with stuff that relates to "online" activities that are embedded into the OS that if not reverse engineered by the user will cause issues. Many of those "problem items" are still in the LTSC builds but are curtailed to where they aren't as "much" of a problem as with the retail versions. But they are still there and must be dealt with. The updating junk is of the most concern which is present in LTSC as well. Those "stop the updating" apps work for a limited amount of time and are then usurped by the unrelenting persistence of the underlying update machine built into the windows OS. Unless that is completely disabled, updates will occur at some point and screw shit up beyond measure.

    You KNOW that the Super-light has a LOT of missing elements and disabled functions.
    There are easier ways to get rid of Defender.
    I am right.
    You are are wrong.

    Instead, why not temporarily disable Defender via Powershell ?:
    These 2 commands are working well on Windows 11 as of 2026.03.31
    =================================================
    Defender OFF:
    PowerShell Set-MpPreference -DisableRealtimeMonitoring 1
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Defender ON:
    PowerShell Set-MpPreference -DisableRealtimeMonitoring 0
    =================================================

    I made these as .bat files & put them into a folder I named "Defender Toggle".
    I created shortcuts to the .bat files so I could use nice icons for them.
    The icon files are stock Windows icons, copied to the folder for ease of selection.
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    And again, all the folders to which you download, process, and archive packages ought to be "EXCLUDED" from Defender to begin with.
    Windows Defender is not to defend you/your machine but to defend Microsoft & Windows.
    I somewhere read that microsoft tries to only allow signed software in future and they do this
    by using the "Trusted Platform Module" aka TPM on your motherboard + defender.
    Thats why they (try to) force every new Win11 machine to only install if a TPM 2.0 Chip is present
    and thats also why they want to force you to use a microsoft online account instead of a local one.
    This would mean the end of Open Souce but also the end of cracked software and to ensure that
    happening, they force the installation of Windows defender on every machine.
    Thats why you have to disable TPM (+ SecureBoot) in your bios/uefi, create or download an installation
    image that installs on every machine, no matter what hardware it has and if TPM is present + has defender
    removed & creating local accounts enabled.
    You can easily do that by using Windows 11 Ghost Spectre images for now but I hope I'll get my Windows 11 "Producer Edition"
    done soon which will not even have Microsoft Store or any apps - just the plain OS, which even runs on a 17 years old
    PC with 2 cores, 4GB RAM & a 80GB hard drive with no issues.
    I wouldn't say that no AV is the best solution. On my machine Defender is not installed
    but I still have an AV installed (GData Internet Security, because it's the best) but also fully
    disabled the AV part. Reason for that is:
    I want to be able to act quickly if a virus/worm finds its way to my files or scan for root kits
    or check suspicious files from time to time. The other Reason for GData is: they have the best firewall
    on the market. I can manage to block single connections to a license server while (in the same app
    or plugin) allowing to download content. Thats not possible with other solutions.
    I uninstalled Defender, suspended updates, and installed other free antivirus software.
    I bought good backup software and made a full backup of my C:/ drive to a second hard drive.
    Bitdefender software runs silently and doesn't constantly scan the PC; you can even disable it temporarily. As everyone knows, you can still get infected despite antivirus software, but that's what the backup is for, and you can completely restore the operating system using the emergency CD-ROM.
    I made this decision last year when Windows errors after an update caused instability (timeouts) in my operating system.
    The possibility of Microsoft changing this in the future also led to me suspending updates.
    if its a new virus or worm, it takes around 48h hours for any AV to roll out a signature to detect it.
    Also how would something find a way on your system?
    What i hate the most is that it blocks easy stuff, on another computer, there is Kaspersky Internet security installed. Its super annoying, always scanning stuff, it even blocked audio input, because why not.
    I still stand by the phrase: If you carefully choose your sources, use an adblocker and scan stuff with virus total, if you are not sure, there is no need for AVs.
    You need a complete, working backup. Sometimes the screen freezes. BKA Trojan, for example. I went over a year without antivirus; it was a great feeling, everything was a little faster. After a year, I got a virus—I don't know where it came from. Then I installed the free Bitdefender, and it deleted the virus. I've been using the free Bitdefender ever since.
    1. Put your machine in Shadow mode
    2. Install your preferred anti-virus
    3. Scan
    3.1 If clean, go to step 4
    3.2 If infected, create a delta
    4. Pull out of Shadow mode
    5. Use Delta to manually remove the infected files, entries
    System stays clean.
    Of course this only works for peeps who know what they are downloading / installing.
    Newbs and Capitalists should stick with Mickysoft default stock images and configurations.
    Apologies to saccamano for stealing the Synonym.
    Sure. And that missing shit is 95% of the garbage that should be missing and should never have been stuffed into the OS in the first place. The "disabled functions" if needed are easily enabled if one needs them.
    Sure it's easier to run some app or script that supposedly disables defender but defender is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to securing a win10/11 build for internet use. However 99% of those apps or scripts use automated conventional methods to "disable" whatever it says it's getting rid of and never actually removes the crap. There's no magic happening there - they are basically doing what any user could do, toggling gui switches and using group policies... They just paint over the blemish rather than remove it altogether.
    Keep up with your course of ignorance and I'll look forward to seeing you end up here as an OP on one of these kinds of threads sooner or later. :yawn:
