Hello, i was watching this breakdown from canova, and he showed (by mistake) the beta of soothe3 for a split second.

So Soothe3 looks like Soothe2 then, that's amazing! Just imagine it sounds as good, totally worth the $296 update price! Honestly, the spectral compression has been beaten to death since then, not sure what's the point.

 

The only way I can see soothe 3 being revolutionary is if they're crafting a very smart algorithm that "fixes" audio without the sound resonance suppression gives. I also suppose they have modes to suppress the frequencies and fill them with saturation, based on the "transparent" mode at the top.

 

Very interesting. So Now you can control the attack and release of each band? Cool GUI (they always had good ones), but again, nothing extraordinarily.
This speaks to the overwhelming saturation of audio and instrumental plugins. What are more things do we really need for today's modern music?

 

As far as i'm concerned the only way they could improve soothe 2 is if they created new algorithm(s) such as Linear Phase or Dynamic Phase modes. In the past they've mentioned that they dropped Linear Phase processing for various reasons, maybe that won't be the case with soothe 3

Soothe uses an FFT so it's already "linear phase"i think you are talking about Spiff, and in that case, it has the option for linear phase already along with adjustable window size. the reason Soothe messes with transients when you overdo it is because of how you have to window the bins, though it's not as bad as a purely naive spectral gate/compander as Soothe only sees the parts of each bin that resonate. what it needs is basically what Spiff already has. adjustable window size, and if they can make that per "EQ"bnd, that would be pretty nifty

FFT isn't automatically Linear Phase and Soothe2 isn't liner phase. It's very unlikely any spectral EQ's will be LP as to achieve it the signal first feed forward then feeds backwards, this creates alot of latency which I think will not work with this type of plugin. LP is overhyped and not widely used even by mastering engineers, mostly die to ringing or pre echo. AT lower settings there is not much phase shift usually.

More people will buy copies of it. They can fix bugs (or create some new ones). If it's a free update for existing users, good for them. After all the copycat versions that people have put out, then it makes sense they should show again why their plugin is still the best and the one people should buy. If it is just to get people talking about their plugin again; look, it already worked.

If it is ""we've been meaning to update the protection anyway" that's no big surprise. If it is just a way to easily see people who haven't updated and are using v2 still in Youtube videos, that would be kind of funny.

Thats hilarious! please tell me this was a live stream, bc if this was recorded offline and missed in edit that's insane. I'm a beta tester for some major, if not THE most major, companies in audio and those NDA's are something serious. Someone might want to tell him, so he can take it down, or edit it...but it's definitely too late now.

 

The video is already gone. But that could also be "mission accomplished" anyway. In similar completely unexpected news, i heard they are working on some new Macs that will come out in 2028. Just in time for the U-he Zebra3 release.

Soothe is a nice thing yes, but someone with a bit of expertise can vibecode a basic clone easily nowadays I guess... have seen a few alternatives that come close. We'll see what they have in store though

This was definitely not some sneak marketing attempt. The world is gonna stop whenever Soothe3 drops, without any pre-advertisment. He fouled up, big time. Absolute NDA breach.

Upon further inspecting, this an "alpha" build. Alpha's are the first initial concept builds, many times not yet even fully containing all planned additions, or even containing the final decided upon gui. After alpha testing is completed, THEN the build goes into beta. I doubt Soothe3 is anywhere close to release, and could easily be a 2027 rollout.
