HOW COME after 15 years we dont have proper video of tiesto in the studio?
also.. alot of djs and producers have released soundsets, books and tutorials but nothing on tiesto makes me wonder

The ENTIRE industry employs ghost producers, whether to help with 20%, or 100% of the product.

They also have an army of underpaid sound designers, and mixing and mastering engineers.

Your favorite "DJ" doesn't have time to spend weeks in the studio when he is traveling 4x a week to perform (which is where the money is). He is too tired doing blow/drinking/whoring to wake up fresh in the morning and look at a laptop screen.

I know because this is my full time job. It's all theatre, everything is fake.

100% True! Evenmore, it's been like that since at least the mid 1990's. I know for a fact especially since 1996 when "Trance" was turned in an artificially mass-produced commercialized product, many producers/djs switched to such a model. Simple for the $$$ that was available big labels/industry with mediapushs and advertisment campaigns. Since 1996, techno/trance and other styles of now called "EDM" have lost their spirit and and sold their soul!

 

I'm more interested in @Kate Middleton in the studio!

Tiesto in the studio? Somebody hasn't left the house since the 2000's.

 

They picked up their tricks from the pop industry where you have ghostwriting and miming going back decades.

I'm not saying we should stop listening to all music. We can separate the art from the process. But it is good to be mindful of these things.

As musicians ourselves, it can be demoralizing to compare ourselves to these rockstar DJs who put out professional sounding tracks constantly, untill we realize they have a team of 20 people behind them...

 

If i told someone that one of my all time favorite tracks is done by Tiesto i´d be put into a "category", but i think it also shows 2 things.
Either this is his original style or this is someone´s else track and i´ll never find out.

I would suggest that most production duos (especially in Trance and EDM) have one guy that does all the work and another one who sits down and provides moral support. It's difficult to have a 50/50 ratio with duos I guess

a lot of this is just because of the "one driver seat in the car" problem. You could have two equally skilled producers working together, and almost always it is still one DAW computer, one main keyboard/mouse/monitor, main kb controller, etc. It's easier to just stick to that kind of setup unless you have the a)money and b) someone doing the IT to do all the tech stuff to set something different up. For most of us, it would not be all that difficult for someone to configure a collaborative setup so 2 people can be working at the same time. Online collaboration can be productive, but there is nothing better about using different monitors and interfaces in a different listening room, transferring files back and forth, over zoom or some other collab platform. The extra set of ears immediately listening to what you are working on is not so simple to replace.

 

Yeah it's good to have two heads to bounce ideas off, I've found personally that two people that want to be in the drivers seat never really works out too well. But yeah often people that are technically skilled lack the ideas of someone who has less technical knowledge, so it works out
