Only if you try to use the old shortcut to the project, Cubase looks to the audio folder in the project path for its contents. Worse case scenario it will ask you to provide a new path. Make sure you change the default save path in the hub as well, otherwise any new projects will go to the old location.

ok,so i accidentally deleted my untitled folders, and from recycle bin.
i had opebed another post regarding retrieving data that has been deleted from recycle bin.
is there any that retrieves the data in the folder
for example im looking a few audio files that were in untitled folders.
but the retrieval program i ran just lists a ton of files, and i have no idea if any are the ones i need.
    hope this makes sense

Next time, backup project from the file menu if you want to move the project and all associated files/folders to a new location.
As far as what was deleted, I don't think you're going to be able to retrieve anything that isn't partially corrupted.

the backup project thing has me a bit confused. so i started a test project( to try out back up project scenario)
so first of all i sabed the project to a folder within cubase projects called 2026.
then i clicked on back up project, here i created a folder inside 2026 folder called "back ups". all good so far.
couple of questions at this stage. when i want to open this project do i open the one in back up projects,or the original saved one in "2026"?
next question,do i select back up project everytime i want to save the project? i tried that and it says the folder needs to be empty.

    No.
I find it confusing too. If you dont name a project it goes in users on your hard drive, possibly without audio, even if did, there is no project file.

I have folder titled '026 CUBASE' , one for every year going back decades. When i start a new project i navigate to 026 CUBASE, then i open a new folder in there and name it, i dunno, lets '026 JEFF' 1, confirm, that takes you back to Cubase project, but it isnt named, so name it, now or later, O26 JEFF 1, ( you don't have to name the project file it the same as the folder, that's just wot i do) you must keep saving as you work if crashes you lose all your work, everytime you edit save it.

When song is finished In my cube project folder named 026 JEFF 1 would also be 026 JEFF 1, 2 3 etc , and 026 JEFF 1 SINGLE, 026 JEFF 1 SINGLE 2, CLUB MIX 1 etc all in same folder cos they share audio and midi file etc.

If you forgot to save a project next boot a message will say a newer version exists, if you made edits they would have been lost, this message means, do you want the last one? you didnt save or the last one you saved, never click delete, always best to keep both.

Folder only accepts the first name used when saving, so if you made a diff song but using a lot of 026 JEFF 1 then tag it 026 JEFF 1 Who let da dogs out, cos if you just tried 026 WLTDO it wouldnt' save it.

not as daft as it seems as its necessary to the way i work, might be jus be my little quirk though

    Nope, just the once.

    Here’s how I work.

O26 CUBASE folder has all my different project files.

I open Cubase & choose ‘most recent’, in this case its 026 JEFF 1.

I work on it all day and saved it 6 times by using ‘save’ command, whenever I edited something.

Next day I called it up and decided to make major changes but wanted to keep the first version, 026 JEFF 1 for reference, now and in future in case I screwed up.

So, I now use the command ‘save as’ and rename it 026 JEFF 2.

Then JEFF 2 is edited saved and saved again until I need do a save as 026 JEFF 3 or 026 JEFF 2 SINGLE 1.

You have to make a project folder for every new titled song.

‘save’ saves all files associated with that project.

Use ‘save’ when working day to day and use ‘save as’ when you want to change the name, when done changing name, just revert to save again.

You could make a folder titled 026 DEMO then add DEMO jeff 1, DEMO Jill 1 etc could all go in same folder, just call up one and rename it, leaving the ‘demo’ tag intact and then ‘save as’ into same DEMO folder.

I only call first one, er, 1 cos in WIN 10 anything unnumbered goes below those that are numbered.

Sorry about the advice I gave you earlier, I had not realised you where using default files. I should have though of that but the reason I didn't is because I use the trick below.
There is a very simple way round this and that's to simply click on the folder icon, in the hub, next to the default file path (right next to where it says Create Empty). This deselects the auto option, meaning you need to select a folder and give it a name before you do anything now... No more Default folder hell. But it does require you think of a name each time...
