I'm trying to install Arturia's Arp 2600V vst, the first version from 2005. I have an archive of H2O's release of it, but the installer just...stays stuck. Like, it opens and just freezes indefinitely. I'm currently using windows 11. Is there anything I can do to get it to work? or if I have to extract it, how do I do so correctly so the plugin actually works?

Does the installer H2O music play while the installer seems to be stuck? How long did you wait for the installer before you closed it's process? Maybe the installer was installing silently with no progress indicators? Does the installer process display (not responding) in the task manager? Can I borrow $20? Did you try to run the installer in compatibility mode?

    LOL

1), no, music does not play while the installer is on.
    2) the longest I had it on was about 3 hours. so safe to say it's probably indefinite. since no installers take so long.
    3) the installer is supposed to let you select where to install the data and it's vst. it does not install it silently.
    4) if I click on the installer while it's running it says not responding. for the 3 hours I had the installer on it stayed on not responding till I closed it.
    5) respectfully I'll have to decline
    6) I did, didn't seem to fix the problem. I had the same thing happen with the hypersonic 1 installer from H2O but instead someone just unpacked it for me and told me where to put everything.

[EDIT: are you running this as Admin?]

I found the Hypersonic 1, and the installer starts fine for me...:(
    But I can't find the Arp 2600.

But maybe there is something going on with your system..
Or maybe there is something normal about Win11 that causes a problem.
I run these things in a location not scanned by MS Defender, although i copied this exe into my normal downloads folder, ran a scan on it, and then ran it and it seems to load up to install fine.

If you have a link you want to PM, (and not post here) i'd try it.
I would just use UniExtract & Innoextractor for .exe files if it won't run...
Well even if it DID run, I would extract, so that I could get the install info to verify locations for items.

I dealt with this years ago and came up with a simple solution ( very manual and not 100% effective but high numbers of plugins worked this way).

    1. Virtual OS ( Windows XP with old H2O installers)
    2. Run a software installation monitor to see where all the files will be moved to
    3. Now copy the files from those locations and copy them to the local drive
    4. Manually add the reg entries, file directories, system files ( syncro.dll's)

This was the only way to deal with these older installers in order to install the files then copy them and attempt to run them on the current modern machine ( Windows 10 or Windows 11)

Success rate has been high but remember if those plugins throw errors about missing files when ran on the modern system, it may still be possible to manually add the necessary files.

This is a full Manual process, nothing automatic in order to test out each plugin, once they work package the files up with some instructions for yourself and included necessary files.

I'd stick to DoubleTake suggestion: run it with Admin Rights (right click on kg and click on Run as administrator). It could be the program is trying to do admin stuff and it's stuck on that situation you comment, because it cannot get to where it needs to. If this does not work, I'd try to go to the kg properties and go to Compatibility tab and set it to run compatibility for Windows XP Service Pack 3.

I could not find the H20 release either, but I did find v1.2 from AirISO. I was thinking if the reason the H20 version was not there, maybe it was nuked? It's not like we can look on UPAWG db anymore. :dunno:. If two of them fail to install, you know the problem is the system.

Addendum to DoubleTake's fine post above...
Odds are that unless you are running a SuperLite Optimized win11 build that something innate to the operating system is stopping your installation.

Also if these are 32bit VST's they will not run on any modern x64 DAW's even if you do finally get them to install. You will have to bridge the plugin files to x64 in order to get them to load in "late model" x64 DAW's. You can use jBridge for this.

Just to test if a WIN11 issue, installed Arturia.Arp2600.V.v1.0 (H2O Release date 01-13-05) on my Win11 24H2. Installer music played. No freezing. Finished and opened the ARP2600 V.exe standalone. upload_2026-3-10_19-55-59.jpeg

many old installers cause trouble when they do not find the required paths for system stuff when you run them under a 64bit windows.

i forget they allow stuff like that on there now, somehow. Not so many years ago they would take down 30 year old sample cds.

and the weird thing is ONLY H2O installers get frozen. paradox? fine. Radium? fine. it's ONLY H2O instlalles that just stay frozen completely. I would extract this installer but I have no idea where the extracted arturia files should go.
