    * in an effort to get a pirated app working, i e emailed and subsequently got in touch with a support staff.

    *told him the specifics and behaviors regarding the patch not working correctly

    *I dont think i shoukd say who,/what it is in case they they lurk.

    *but if the majority and/or the wise among you believe that will limit any advice ill get, ill name the app


    *post first email brief*

    -His reply seemed eager to help but has asked me to screen shot what the "issue" is or better yet screen record

    are there any deoendancies that if found missing would ansolutely imply that i have the software illicitly (as opposed to just being bone headed by not having them at the correct path? osx doesn't use dll's but are maxpatch files sometimes needed?

    I don't know man, for me personally it's a bit of "honor among thieves". If it's not legit, I feel bad going to the company to fix my problems. There are usually enough tutorials around to solve most problems. Not judging those who do though...to each his own. The only company I might do that to is Avid!!

    Usually, a company will first ensure that you hold a proof of purchase (and as such that you are legit) before providing any assistance.

    maybe I've argued too much about pirated software in my life, but I believe in the ethics behind the "they're not losing any money from me doing this" argument. even if I could get a company to fix warez I would never want them to

    Normally, you have to provide your invoice or serial number, etc., to prove you're a customer; only then do you get support. That's been my experience so far. You're the first person I know who's contacting the legitimate manufacturer's customer support about pirated copies.

    If you're at a point where they're asking for screenshots you're probably in the clear (unless it's a scam of sorts).

    I think it's a waste of time though. Either it's a settings/path problem and you can probably figure it out on your own, it's a crack problem which obviously they won't help you with, or it's a legit problem and they're gonna ask you to update the plugin at some point and you won't be able to update so no fix for you.

    There's also a chance that they'll tell you to fuck off, which will hurt your feelings. It's a no win scenario.

    This is simply douche behavior... You - obviously do not belong in the warez scene. Period. If there are others here that do junk like this then they don't belong in the scene either.

    Using your own brain to muddle through issues is part of the scene. Always has been. If one gets stuck, there are places like this one where you can go to get some semblance of possible hints/help to solve a problem. If the problem isn't solvable, there are so many other applications that are redundant in nature, one can simply move on to a different solution that DOES work. THAT - is the order of things.

    I once actually saw police body came footage where a (very) low level crack dealer woman asked a cop to arrest some other crackhead woman who ripped her off for like 40 bucks during a deal. The query at the top of this page is edging dangerously close in that direction.

    Agreed. Its one thing to use the crack. Its another to waste their support time. Like ok sure, you would not buy the software at all, because you don't buy software, no harm caused to the company because you wouldn't spend there anyway. Making support jump through hoops to figure out your problem, on software you have zero intent to ever purchase, just messed up.
