Genre would be goa/psy-trance adjacent. It uses tons of elements from the genre, but it feels very simplistic compared to the genre standards.

It's the kind of goa/psy that was interesting in the 90s. Today the genre evolved to be much more complex than this is.

It's fine, but it needs tons more work. Also the drops need more buildup, you need more transitions, more effects, more ear candy, more everything. And get rid of the cymbals, they don't belong here :)

Source: 20+ years of goa/psytrance festivals and consummation :guru:

    Thanks!
    That's from 13 years ago!
I wonder if I have the time to actually re-do it.

If you want inspiration, and also to hear what modern darkpsy sounds like, learn from the best:

But there are so many subgenres today, each one is different, has a different fanbase, just do what vibes with you.

This might be more along the lines of your creation :)

Of course, you can rework an old song with the latest virtual plugins, essentially creating a version 2 or version 3, and maybe even add your own vocals! I quite like your song. Back then, everything was called EDM = Electronic Dance Music, Techno, or Trance; today, of course, there are many more terms.

The Predator was one of the first virtual software synthesizers that had enough punch and bass.
It still sounds very good today; Rob Papen and his developer did a great job.

    "last one, I promise"

Don't be daft - Go hard. This is what the place is for and music is meant to be heard.
    The more the merrier.
