though id disagree about games...the corporate industry is a disaster zone but other than that as a medium its thriving with great games coming out all the time. Arc raiders is an amazing game and social experiment, that actually uses online play to create a fascinating experience.

My great experience today was going shopping in the snow and ice and getting home safe and sound.

We have a perfect entertainment industry that keeps you busy and distracts you from the truly important things in life.
And with you as willing consumers, there's good money to be made.

Movies! Just look at the Best Picture nominees at the Oscars in the 1970s. 95% of those movies would not get made today.

I think the decline in mainstream movies and music is definitely linked.

So true. The pro music scene in clubs and venues in the 70's - 90's was supportive of a pro musician being able to eek out a meager living by playing alone. Gigging 5-6 nights a week with different ensembles and bands at various clubs/venues in a metro area was the norm for a lot of us. Now that is all gone.

Incidentally, the ancient Romans had already used the techno rhythm – the base kick drum – for rowing in their slave ships.

Its been rain most days here in UK for weeks, once the sun comes back a game cannot compete with daily sunshine and nature. The game is very sunny and mediterranean sometimes which is nice in winter. I hate winter.

If music has declined - smoking laws, DWI enforcement killed the bar scene where most bands played covers as a form of learning and as a rite of passage into writing their own stuff. I played the bar scene all through college in the 1970s and it was VERY competitive. You didn't even consider doing your own stuff unless you were one of the top dogs. Sad? perhaps.

I was just wondering how many songs released in the last five years might be considered to be classic songs? I’m struggling. ChatGPT could only think of “As It Was” by Harry Styles and “Blinding Lights”. I’d add “Birds of a Feather”, “Fate of Ophelia”. But If you’d asked that question in 1970, the list would have been as long as your arm.
