    but what do you do when it gets toward the end of the road? I'm 68 years old... Been playing anything I can get my hands on since I was 12..
    I still play every day. I have a small studio.

    But how do you deal with the thought that no one will hear these hard fought songs.. Ever..

    you can quickly get to the point of "why bother" ?
    When you walk into your studio space and instead of being "jazzed" and ready to write and roll, I often now feel saddened because no matter what I write, no matter what I play..

    It's only for me..

    Does anyone else struggle with this reality ??

    You've analyzed the problem and even published your findings.

    Get a free SoundCloud account --> https://soundcloud.com
    Open a free YouTube account --> https://www.youtube.com
    Create your own website --> https://www.wix.com

    just start a little bit every day and your meaningless life will become meaningful.
    You can also burn songs onto a CD-ROM, create a layout, write your addresses on the back, and give it away for free.

    Well, that's certainly an option! I wish you all the best!

    Why do I make music?

    I’m still hanging on to the belief that one day I might actually make money from it.
    I’ve tried everything: ghostwriting for DJs in the 90s, library music, hip hop, dancefloor, trance, orchestral, hybrid stuff, even background music for cooking videos.
    I’ve invested a lot of money. Seriously.

    There were a few small wins, but mostly disappointment.

    And yet… music is the only constant in my life.

    I’m 50 now.
    High and low tinnitus, both ears screaming, a few hearing losses behind me.
    Family, wife, kids… and yes, PayPal debts.

    I keep telling people I’m a musician.
    Deep down, I like believing I’m something special, even though nobody really cares.

    I make music because it gives me something.
    Because it makes me feel different.
    Even if I’m just an average guy.

    Music’s been there for over 30 years.
    And somehow, that’s enough.

    Sometimes it's kinda depressing knowing that my songs aren't being listened to outside of a very small circle. I made a decision years ago when still in my prime when labels has me in their sights and flinging all sorts of weird energy in my direction that I wouldn't want to partner with that vibe, with those people that I was meeting with. Part of me is glad, part of me is sad but it doesn't stop me from writing, playing and recording my music.

    No one can say WHY they love music. Those that do, just do. Why people make music, can be for different reasons. Because they love music, to express themselves, traumatic past, etc.
