I know the topic is about AMD. For me, they fkd us too. Where is my dual X3d cache 16 core cpu? The buzz keeps circulating for a month or so, but they skipped without even a hint of its existence. They even have a 9600X3d that keeps appearing in driver lists and the likes, but it remains unspoken and unreleased. And lastly, after hrs of Non Consumer AI talk in the Consumer Electronics Show(case), we got to the 9850X3D and i was like oh, the very same 9800x3d cpu with a 400mhz higher boost. Which means this product is a select top binned 9800X3D with a different name. And most likely an even higher price. How innovative. Just because TSMC's yields are now better since the process has matured. It's like AMD is now doing what Intel did back in the four core i7 era. Same shit over and over. Let's just hope it's just a phase.
I also hope Intel does a cpu comeback with their 18A process and with even stronger gpus perhaps so we have some competition going on again in the desktop/laptop segment, even with ram being as high as it is. I mean for me as a pc system builder this ram crisis is already hurting my small business and it's only been a little over a month, but i do know that anyone serious enough who is in need of a new system, will go the extra mile and pay the ram premium. This though leaves out all the non pro enthusiasts and part time musicians/producers who will stick with what they already got.
One guy summed it all in one long sentence:
"The reason why RAM has become four times times more expensive is that a huge amount of RAM that has not yet been produced was purchased with non-existent money to be installed in GPUs that also have not yet been produced, in order to be placed in data centers that have not yet been built, powered by infrastructure that may never appear, to satisfy demand that does not actually exist and to obtain profit that is mathematically impossible".

    Cheers mates

To return to the topic of CES and ignore a-eye for a second, here are some benchmarks for imminent releases of iGPUs (per ComputerBase, in frames per second):

    Bought patriot 96GB ddr5-6000 in february 2025 for 339€ now 1239€
and all the parts i bought are much more expensive too..

i wanted to create a second computer for my wife of the same performance level......

it costs ~1600€ more than in Feb 2025 these days...

these tech companies are ripping us off, they want us to use stupid datacenter (monthy sub) for AI and stuff...

i start to extremely dislike these tech companies with their stupid AI addicition and money greed...

Significant price reduction (towards old normal prices) → most likely in 2027–2028, when new factories (e.g. Samsung P4, SK Hynix M15X) are fully ramped up and more capacity for standard DDR5 becomes available.

The AMD R7 8700G PC I assembled only a little more than 3 months ago cost ~920€ and now it costs ~1440€ (without peripherals, chassis, and cooler), mainly due to Kingston Fury CL30 2x16GB 6000MT/s RAM being ~370€ more expensive now and Crucial T500 1TB NVMe being ~120€ more expensive.

Maan. I just checked the new prices and I am :wow: At least CPU, MBO and PSU are still the same price, for now. These are EU prices.

Yeah, just two days ago checked old offer (August 2025) I got for AMD rig I was trying to buy, they specified how much every part cost, I went for that exact same RAM and now price for that RAM went from 130 euros to 500, whole build was 680 euros total lol (Ryzen 7600, Asrock B650 PG Lighting, WD 1TB NvMe, Cooler Master V550 Gold 550W PSU and random cheap case)

The people trying to make 16.99/month game streaming and 14.99/month cloud office happen must be violently creaming their pants 24/7 at the prospect of people putting billions of computer purchases on the backburner over the coming 3 years.

The financial opportunity-loophole for the bottom 85% to engage in affordable computing and education has been successfully closed

    Another win for slavery.

As this thread has veered towards AI, I'll share an article I found that is quite interesting, since it goes against the current narrative that everything AI is great.

Hey what's up mate, happy new year. Did you or any other for what it's worth, check the hard drives prices? Yes i do mean mechanical disk drives. HDDs right now are twice more expensive than about 2 months ago and going higher with each week that passes by. Just because, you guessed it, data centers bought an insane amount of these as well.
SSDs follow exactly the same way and their price has almost doubled and again rises with small but steady bumps each week.

If i can give any purchase advice to anyone wanting a new ssd, guys just get it asap, all estimations from various sources lead to the same conclusion, that they will keep rising through 2026. And ironically enough, the robots (chatGPT, Gemini) agree too.
    Cheers
