    Yes, I'm sure.

What result? Just can see, you've selected the RTM (which is not yet available for public or techbench users
but for mdsn subscribers like developers, PC manufacturers, etc.)

That's why I said "take a look at the MDL forums" and "I can upload them as well" (I did already to Mega)

If you try to "upgrade" between different variations of the OS, there never will be another way!
So you're on 1903 Pro but want to use the ltsc or enterprise, you'll lose your apps.
But when you're running 1809 Pro and want to upgrade to 1903 Pro, then it's possible easily.

It's like with your PC. You can upgrade parts on the mainboard easily but you can't do that with the mainboard itself.

The trick is changing the version ID in the registry, so that Windows thinks that it already is an Enterprise edition. Then the first option will be available again

Did this once when I upgraded to Enterprise the first time

Tested the new 1903 enterprise and trimmed down almost all apps and unneccessary stuff.
Now the system itself just takes 8,23GB of space after installation (in a VM). The 1803 Pro I have as VM takes 11GB
and my old Win 7 VM takes almost 15GB.

Only shit is, I can't test for FLS slots with that plugin, Maizelman mentioned.
It only shows 128 free slots - not more and not less. Maybe it only can show a maximum of 128 slots?
Will see if there's another way to check for free slots. Without knowing it exactly, I won't take my time
to make a trimmed down ltsc-like enterprise iso image as it wouldn't make sense.

Exactly, that plugin was set up for old FLS limit threshold, so now you'd need to add thousands of different plugins to go below 128.
In other means, if you added few plugins and stay at 128 = test success.

Knowing that it's still possible to upgrade a "regular" win 7 sp1 installation to win 10, mounting this ISO and starting the exe install file it should act as upgrader, isn't it?
Does somebody know how to integrate an english ISO with a localized .cab language file?

Yes, with NTLite. Thats the same tool I'm using for trimming down all the crapware I don't need.
But there's also another nice tool from german developers from Heise.de, an IT & Tech magazine.

It's called c’t-WIMage and it lets you create an installation image from your current OS.
That means you could install 1903 into a virtual machine, add & set the language pack,
configure Windows as you want, uninstall unneccessary apps, install your DAW & plugins,
disable Edge, MS Shop, etc... and then you create the image using WIMage and you get
an installation image that installs your OS exactly as you set it - no matter on what PC
    you install it.

That way you can backup your complete OS into an installation disc and for example
duplicate/install it on a new PC or reinstall it when you got a virus without setting everything again.

But keep in mind: the more you install, the bigger it gets and it also will add all your videos, photos etc.

OK, coded a little 64Bit command line tool that counts the real number of FLS Slots.
Also made a nicely fitting little Icon in the last hours just because it was fun doing it.

On Windows 8.1 (my current OS) it looks like that:

and on the new Windows 10 1903 with the increased number it looks like that (yehaa):

If you want to try it, here you go: FLS Test 1.0.7z

    Ps.:
If you get an error running it, check the info file and the included folder.
It needs VC++ Redist 2015 to run.

Tool is great, thank you. Shows 124 on W10 1607 as well.
Was the safest version while testing and looks like there`s a reason now to go for 1903 install.
Will PM you if you don`t mind.

friends I can not update everything, I reached 30 % asking me to remove a sandbox program because it is not compatible, .. and after another 10% upload tells me that the system could not be updated, without any explanation, but someone of you managed to update it ??

Maybe useful: I've always found this to be a nice way of finding Microsoft ISOs

Could you elaborate on that ?

What did you find being better in Win Server LTSC than Win Enterprise LTSC for a dedicated workstation ?

    Any news regarding this topic?

You who are on W10 Ltsc, still pleased with the results?

Anything at all to gain going W11 when it comes to strictly audio/daw work?

to be honest I keep using regular non-modded versions,

W11 23H2 seems most stable, but getting rather old by now,
W11 24H2 is my daily driver,
W11 25H2 has too many random bugs I rather stay away from it on my production machines

Every new operating system has its pros and cons. Some bugs are fixed, and some new ones appear.
Some things are improved, some are worse, and some remain the same.

Windows 11, MIDI 2.0 and the biggest MIDI update since 1983
    www.gearnews.com/windows-11-midi-2-0-microsoft-tech/

Since the industry is inventing new devices and software every day, and they all need to work with Windows 11, the operating system is becoming increasingly complex, and therefore also slower and more prone to errors.

I upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and am now running version 23H2. I've blocked updates because Windows Updates sometimes delete things and cause errors. I've replaced Windows Defender with Bitdefender Free. If you do some manual configuration, Windows 11 is just like Windows 10.

Once you've got Microsoft running stably, you should be careful with Windows Updates. It's best to avoid them altogether and instead find a solution for a specific problem, rather than letting Windows wreak havoc on your system. Above all, make a full backup. If you're a professional musician, unplug from the internet and stay offline. This is the only way to remain independent and secure, because cybercrime is rampant.

hello here, there's a version of Win10 IOT LTSC 2021, which is different from the ltsc version, the essential updates (security) go until 2032, system made for machines that are dedicated, stable and for an audio workstation, it's a must, there's also win11 iot ltsc released in 2024, end of service 2034, I think. win10 iot ltsc 2021 is what I use, dedicated audio machines are off the net, plus win10 iot ltsc 2021 licenses are around 8€, then you have a stable machine that's perfect for audio. of course it forces you to install on a blank machine, but once in place you have a stable machine, no useless stuff. have fun

MIDI2, hmm interesting. i wonder if that is all. Nothing intrinsic to the W11 that would make anything daw related run better. in that case ill go IOT Ltsc, and i need to make a clean install anyway, my system is so cluttered that it will give me a chance to make it right. (ill have two installs on the same system, separate os on separate ssds)

I think there is some conflicting information and it may be based on older versions of ltsc w10. I think, both 2021 versions are the same iso size and same install size, its just a different license type and im almost sure both receive updates till 2032 but that part im not totally sure of, IOT does though, that im sure of.

I still use Win 10 21H2 LTSC on a couple of my machines. I have blocked all updates after installation and I only add/update selected things manually if necessary, like e.g. VC++ runtime, because some newer programs/plugins require it. Everything works great. As of security, I use ESET, so MS updates - no, thank you.

The only thing so far that won't work on this installation is Studio One 7 (as well as Fender Studio Pro 8), because it requires 22H2. But I ditched Studio One years ago, so it does not matter to me.

Looking at the current Mircoslop drama, I think I'll secure the Win 11 24H2 LTSC ISO, to have it at hand just in case. I also plan to start testing Linux Mint in a couple of weeks.
