No it doesn't. In the default config, your DAW CPU meter is lying to you. If you want to see the *real* performance, either check task manager, or reload the plugin with latency blocks set to 0. Then your DAW CPU meter will be more accurate. And it won't show 6-8%... :)

For sure it takes 80% of a cpu core running at 4.5ghz. Try the JE8086 performance tester app https://dsp56300.wordpress.com/je8086/.
Maybe everyone can post their results and cpu here.
    MIne are [email protected](OC) 125%
I hope especially those of us with new high speced cpu's will post! Curious if anyone goes beyond 200% which makes it possible to run 2 JE8086's on one core

With Audient ID4 audio interface, set to 64 samples ASIO buffer. No more than 40% on one core at the same time.
And this is the result of the test console, I have achieved up to 344% max (AMD Ryzen 9800X3D, 64GB DDR5 RAM).

OMG! you can at least run 5 on a single core, I can do 1

Thanks, upgrading my 2600k might be worth it! 2X the performance and 2X more cores (I was expecting only 2X more cores, not double the performance per core)

    Intel i9 13900K - 8 P-cores w/hyperthreading, 16 E-cores no hyperthreading
    128gb DDR5 RAM 2100Mhz
Default clocking on CPU and RAM.

Recorded 475 sec, last interval speed 324%, total average 332%

In addition to the 8 primary cores there are also 16 background cores on this CPU too. Setting core affinity exclusively to background core #31 gives:

Recorded 475 sec, last interval speed 228%, total average 221%

    Background cores are surprisingly capable.

Final test - parallel. 8 tests running concurrently. All 8 test instances were averaging around 250% +/- 3%
Adding a 9th and 10th parallel instance didn't change this, they all kept running at 250%. Task manager ran at 50% on 8 test instances and 60% at 10 test instances, so there wasn't a performance cliff after 8.

Any link to any skins for JE8086? Saw one recently and I was wondering where it came from in case it was that thread that I would have to dig around to find again

Head over to their discord server. Read and accept the rules and you will see the channels, including one specifically for skins.

Yes but is OC to 4.5. I prefer to run it on my 2600k server because it is not very fluent on my main daw PC when also running a daw. Both are [email protected], both score 120%. My server cost me 50$ complete with OS ssd case ram etc.

Gig Performer gave me a surprising reading of 2-3% CPU usage at a 64 sample buffer rate. I know it's not exactly as accurate to, say Activity Monitor on my 2017 iMac, but I can say for a fact my machines audio doesn't shit itself when I play a handful of notes simultaneously.

Amazingly good performance compared to the hideously gluttonous Montage M plugin... Where one note skyrockets the CPU usage to like 40-50%, devolving the audio into a buzzing, disgusting cacophony of noise... The horror... :suicide:

For accurate cpu reading set the plugin to 0 blocks in the plugin settings. Otherwise it will always ready near 0%

    Happy New Year everyone.
Is it just me?? I am getting audio breaking up when using the JE 8086 plugin.
However, I am using an older Mac
    2.7 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5.
Anyone got this to work without these issues??
