Oh so I've never installed any 3rd party presets, do I install them to

C:\Users\pc\Documents\Xfer\Serum 2 or should they be installed into the presets folder? because when I clicked Menu and opened the presets folder and it opens this folder.

    This is the presets folder
    C:\Users\pc\Documents\Xfer\Serum 2 Presets\Presets

There are two folders: one is Factory and the other is User!
If the User folder is missing, create a new User folder, see images!

    C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Xfer\Serum 2 Presets\Presets\User

Ohhh ok thanks I thought those were the ones you created yourself. Can I store my presets on a HDD and it still work or does it have to be SSD?

in this folder C:\Users\pc\Documents\Xfer\Serum 2 Presets\Presets, you should have folders for Factory, Packs, and User. Put any 3rd party stuff in the User folder. Noises go in /noises and wavetables go in /tables. Sorta self-explanatory. There are clips, effect racks, etc. and they are all clearly labeled. Import .serumpacks from the menu in Serum2, it's just less jockeying files around. Otherwise just place stuff into the folders directly, if you want.

They will work fine on an hdd. just slower load and save times. Serum does not stream samples from disk.

An HDD is much slower than an SSD, so loading your presets will take a little longer.

    1. Copy the "Preset" Folder to another HDH/SSD
    C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\Xfer\Serum 2 Presets
    2. Follow the instructions below.
    3. Then go to Serum MENU -> Rescann Folder on Disc

Appendix C: Editing the Serum Preferences File (from the Xfer Serum Manual) https://xferrecords.com/manual/serum-2

Serum stores application preferences in a special file called Serum2Prefs.json. You can find this file in the following locations:

    • (Windows) %APPDATA%\Xfer\Serum 2\ (use Windows Key + R to access)

This file stores the preferences accessible on the Preferences page, the last known path
to the Serum Presets folder, and (optionally) power user options, among other options.

Important: When editing the JSON file, use a text editor application such as TextEdit (macOS) or Notepad (Windows).
Do not use an application that saves the file in any format other than text (the standard format for JSON files).

For each preference described below, do the following:

    1. Edit the Serum2Prefs.json file using a text editor.
    2. Make the changes, as described in the corresponding section below.

Very Important: Each line in the configuration file ends with a comma (,).
Ensure that you keep the comma at the end of each line when you edit the file.

    3. Save the file.

Serum has a Noise Oscillator that uses these samples. They’re not wavetables, which are single-cycle, loopable, and pitchable sounds.
