It still works in Cubase 14, BUT when I first ran '15 today, the Cubase Activation Manager popped up and went 'not responding'. It happened twice so I ran the VR Activation Manager and all seemed good until there's absolutely no midi input apart from my CS12.

I've checked the Studio Midi settings and all relevant entries show as being active. I should give it a reboot, but I wanted to know if any over are experiencing the same issue. Not only that, but I can't help wondering if SB is on my case.

PS. A reboot made no difference, so I'm reinstalling.
PS2. That made no difference. I suppose I should run it without the preferences and see if that helps.
PS3. Starting in safe mode made no difference. Could this be a time bomb? It's Boxing Day here in Australia, so I look forward to hearing from you on your BD.

I found a while back that the V.R. unlocker scheme seems to diminish capacity in direct relation to the amount of Steinberg apps installed using the unlocker. Two maybe three programs doesn't seem to cause a lot of issues, but any more than that and things start to get dicey. I experienced similar "licensing" issues with V.R. a while back, and at that time proceeded to remove all Steinberg/V.R. stuff from the system using revo and then ultra-search. Then, installed the R2R cert with the SILK emulator and have never had issues since. I now have even more SB stuff running than ever before. No more licensing issues. Not saying this is your issue de facto, but I experienced similar issues to yours with V.R. before going to R2R's scheme.

I've got R2R's Silk Installed as well. Are you saying that you uninstalled every library or just the application?

Here's a synopsis:
It's Boxing Day here in Australia and My C15 just stopped receiving MIDI. It started when the Steinberg Activation Manager popped up and tried to check my licenses at run time and became 'Not Responding'. C14 and N14 still work, so I reinstalled C15, started it in Safe Mode, checked my Firewall and virus permissions, rebooted, ran the VR activation app, and it all made no difference. I suspect it has a time bomb installed. I look forward to hearing if it still works for you on the 26th.

PS. I'm uninstalling it with REVO and stripping any leftover registry entries, then I'll re-install it and see how that goes. If all of these actions fail, then I'll just delete it and forget about. Result: No difference.

PS2. It plays back MIDI but won't accept input and the MIDI Monitor plugin shows zero activity, even though the same project accepts input of the same K/B with identical MIDI settings. My firewall settings and virus permissions are the as for the previous versions, so all I can see at this point is that there's a bug or a Time Bomb.

Not sure what to do at this point apart from going back to '14.

G'Day Mate.... always wanted to say that... If I may.
I think you may be doing a lot of work for maybe not that much return.
If I am reading this correctly the only think that isn't working is Cubase 15 (I'm a big Cube type dude)... I mean, C14 is working like a champ right?

And they are sitting on the same drives and basic default folder locations.. No HUGE split or duplication of your VST's.. Am I right so far?

Is MIDI IN the ONLY thing not working on your C15 setup, or are you having any other "odd" issues with he C15?

C14 work - same MIDI interfaces
C15 don't work - same MIDI Interfaces..

In my humble opinion I would go over the C15 Properties and Preferences Setup with a fine tooth comb and make sure that they match the C14 the same setups on the C14...

Been a huge Cubase type for decades... Double check your preferences and make sure they match.. If you are good in C14, there is probably a check box somewhere.. Wrong Preferences have hurt my feelings a few times...

Yeah, but for some reason, there is almost zero latency when playing a VSTi in C15, but there is heaps for me in C14 for me.

I'll take the C15 pref's offline and copy the C14 pref's into the C15 location and see if that helps. I've been using Cubase from when it was called Cubit so that makes me OAF.

Meanwhile, I'm grabbing the R2R version to see if that makes a diff'.

I had a backup of my pref's file from November, so I moved the latest one offline and renamed the BAK file, and it now works. I've wasted a whole on this crap when all I needed to do was use a slightly older preferences file. I'll never make that mistake again.
