hi,i just noticed ccleaner seems to have dissapeared from my pc.
can that happen?
its def not installed anymore
also noticed everytime i click on something on sister site another page opens up,which i close before it opens.

 

I recommend that you don't use CCleaner and uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller. Instead, use Bleachit, which doesn't monitor your PC and is a genuine cleaning program. A portable version is available. I try to use portable versions for utilities as much as possible.

Just log in to the sister site. If you are not registered, register and then log in. Registered users don't see ads.

Portable versions will not install anything without your knowledge, and you have complete control over what the software does. They do not run in the background like a lot of security crapware that is just spyware and scares you by claiming that your PC is slow or infected.

CCleaner v5.5 and back are ok to use provided you block all network aspects and turn off updating. Been using it for years without issues. As to why it "disappeared" from your rig, it's hard to say. The newer versions are definitely something to stay away from as they employ dubious methods of telemetry and adware...

but modern CCleaner is not recommended, pay attention to the posts above except the "Pulse Generic Answer Machine"

 

He updated it to CCleaner 7 for me, and only two functions were visible on the interface.
I now use “Microsoft PC Manager” which has the same functions and is even better.

When i'm feeling lazy I sometimes use CCleaner 3.25 an old version that isn't loaded with features I don't need or want, just useless crap. oldversion.com is a goto for old software that even still works on 10. some old software is still the best.

yes,i unpacked,but how do i run it? i have a folder with a pile of .dlls and folders called data,etc,lib,share and themes
