Splice App problem

    Ok so I haven't been able to update the app in a while, it has something to do with my Splice app is out of date. I download and try to intall the new one and it just keeps saying it's installing please wait and doesn't ever go anywhere. I been trying to update my Serum 2 lol. What could be causing this?

    Likely Causes
    - Antivirus/firewall/network monitoring software blocking the installer.
    - Corrupted cache or partial installation files.
    - Permissions issues on your system folders.
    - Conflicts with previous Splice versions or incomplete uninstalls.
    - For Serum specifically, updates sometimes require admin privileges or a clean reinstall of the app to trigger properly.

    Troubleshooting Steps

    - Try these in order (most users resolve it with the first few):
    - Fully uninstall and reinstall the Splice desktop app:
    - Download the latest installer from https://splice.com/download.

    Before running it, completely uninstall the old version:
    - On Windows: Use Settings > Apps to uninstall, then delete any leftover folders in C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Splice and C:\Program Files\Splice.
    - Temporarily disable antivirus (e.g., Windows Defender, Norton) and any VPN.
    - Run the new installer as administrator (right-click > Run as administrator on Windows).
    - Restart your computer after installation.

    Clear Splice cache:
    - If the app opens at all, go to Preferences and look for a cache clear option.
    - Or manually delete cache folders (as above) and relaunch.

    Man I tried all this already and I disbaled my microsoft defender and now it works. lol crazy thanks I'd asked AI already I just didn't do enough only disabling my anti virus, not sure why becasue last time I didn't have to do all that

    You probably have but... have you checked that you actually have enough space left on your HD?

    Yea it was a microsoft defender problem apparently

    Did you buy it new, or was it ever used for work or by a business? I’m asking because your screenshot shows “Some settings are managed by your organization.”

    On a personal machine, seeing that message usually means:
    • There are leftover Group Policy or MDM settings, even if it’s not currently tied to a company.
    • Windows is still enforcing enterprise-style rules on updates, security, or other system behavior.
    • Symptoms like failed updates, greyed-out options, or Defender acting oddly are typically side effects of these policies, not actual software problems.

    If that’s the case, it might help to check which edition of Windows you’re actually running, and whether any leftover enterprise policies are still working against you.
