I opened the first door of my SoundToys visual advent calendar, registered, installed, and activated it.
Everything worked perfectly, and it's nice to finally get a gift.

 

Don't know what to say, it works here.

 

Main reason to get Soundtoys is their SATURATION algos.
Among the best ever.

So if you use their saturations on others plugins, it will give them the same sound.
Because even their delays and such use an output saturation stage.

If you only want to buy one, buy Decapitator.
Try Little Radiator and Devil-Loc to get a taste.

 

First, install iLok if you don't already have it: https://www.ilok.com

In the window that appears, uncheck the box next to "Install iLok License Manager".

even if i was not an iLok user due to not wanting their software installed, I would still create an account on their website and link licenses there. I'd rather get the free plugin, if any good. For things like Soundtoys, Softube, UVI, UAD, Protools First, kinds of stuff you aren't going to immediately use. You never know which might be desirable later on to you, or others. ;)

 

Forget the existential threat from AGI, the real end times indicator will be if our good friend ArticStorm ever capitulates to iLok.

 

Check your Soundtoys account, I can get the all 23 plug-ins for $209 which is their lowest offer yet.

 

iLOK and/or internet requirement is a deal breaker for me as well... Me-thinx the Oily james #60 and/or the amapiano (whatever the fuck that is) would be more compelling....

I've owned the full soundtoys bundle for ~5-6 years now, I assume there isn't any benefit (or future potential benefit) to still activating the free activation code i received for little primaltap (and will receive for the 5 remaining)?

 

if you own everything, there's probably 0 benefit. Still, you could just save the codes and later sell them. I don't see how that would be a problem for unused codes... unless they're necessarily tied to an email.

 

they are good because are less CPUintensive more straightforward, some times it could be what you need

very useful for those who plan to buy the bundle, with ith each small plugin license, update to a full Soundtoys 5 bundle during sales will be a real steal

I’m still running the pack from the sister site but good to have a legit upgrade path.

 

They should leave them at the $299 sale price they have permanently. The extra $90 bucks off the sale price is nice for those of us with all the free ones. The potential customers out there to drop $599 on Soundtoys at this point does not seem like it would be all that many people. Three hundred bucks on some plugins is already pretty steep for most people, but when you start talking about $500+ for any bundle, that is a threshold most people are not going to cross.

 

they're known for giving away their "Little" plugs and Devil-Loc is kinda fall in the same category, it's a stripped down version of Devil-Loc Deluxe

 

As a long time SoundToys user, they are also known for releasing their "lil" ones first while they are working on the more flagship items.

Owning or getting the little versions ostensibly for free will only aid and assist in terms of upgrading if one decides they desire to.

 

Yes! I've done the thing for years of using Echoboy with the time set at zero, 100% wet, basically just using it for the saturation knob.

You can also get some cool, weird effects by then turning up the feedback knob as well (with the time still on zero)

 

Anyone else have the problem where closing the plugin window makes your DAW unresponsive for nearly 30 seconds? I'm using ableton on an m1 macbook, and this happens with both the Little PrimalTap and SpaceBlender freebies, the latter of which I decided to finally try out.

Relatedly, trying out the recent free plugins from UA and Soundtoys, installing a bunch of invasive garbage and allowing background processes, has not had the intended effect of endearing me to these companies. It has made me hate them.

 

Not had this problem at all, with either any UA plugin or the 2 Soundtoys you mention. But I am using Logic. I also have stripped every u2b plugin I have of unnecessary architecture slices.
