Anyone still use Eiosis AirEQ? I swear that plugin has gone out of fashion like Uggs did in the early 2010s

 

Nope. I think I did test it quickly after R2R released all of the iLoke'd plug-ins ~2 years ago, but I already knew it was nothing but a simple digital EQ. No proportional Q, no saturation etc. Or actually, it was worse than a simple digital EQ - because it was lying either about exactly what frequencies the bands where set to, or how much you were actually boosting/cutting (can't remember exactly).

I think Slate Infinite EQ is pretty much the successor to AirEQ (and a much improved one, at that).

If you're a producer, ignore my reply on this thread. But if you're serious about Audio or want to learn from an Engineer's Perspective , Read Ahead , No matter what plugin you use to EQ or Saturate or. ANYTHING. The listener does not give flip. They don't listen to the same hardware we use to monitor audio that we are working with. So instead of Plugins and tools learn about how it actually works and how each parameter gives character or process the initial signal you give into it.

 

Oh, you're missing the point here, buddy. big time. Nobody cares about the listener, not the producer, not the label guy, not the A&R rep, not the major label shareholder, not even the artist themselves or your nosy neighbor, not the pro gear maker, not the speaker designer. Ain't nobody. Literally nobody ever. The listener can go f themselves, and their precious opinions mean zilch, zero, nada, nothing to every pro and amateur alike. Only total noob attention seeker cares about the listener. Like every single cool item in the world, that fancy EQ hardware or plugin is purely for your own use and smug satisfaction, doesn't matter one bit if you use it wrong or right, because who gives a damn?

It's funny when you see someone building a plugin chain where they use plugins to fix problems created by plugins they have inserted into the earlier slots of the same channel strip.

 

The listener probably has set his audio settings to "low" to reduce data consumption.

I experienced two very opposite reactions regarding audio quality in my life.

1) The other day one of my friends asked the other friend, when downloading the mp3 which one to choose? He legit told him to download the 128 kbps audio instead of 320 kbps to reduce data consumption and save storage. I kept thinking about this for a few days.

2) On the other hand, I met one gamer friend 4 years ago, he was a flac audio collector and a legit audiophile. He was so interested in audio, he always asked me questions regarding how music is made and how good it would feel to listen to when the musician makes it first hand. He was a firm believer of mp3 < flac.
No second thought, To my surprise he even admitted that he was able to hear the audible difference between the two very clearly. It took me years to get that good to pick a mp3 or a wave just by listening.

Listeners vary alot and we can never judge the audience, the quote "make music for yourself first" is the golden rule in my opinion. Everything is subjective & nobody can be 100% right or wrong.

The stuff that's in there atm is a slowly driven but quite heavy 'deesser' to make the airband of modern productions bareable and a tape sim to get the low end back those idiots thought noone needs because the iphone doesn't do that anyway.
