Just bought BFD 3.5 in the sale and will probably buy some of the expansions too but there are a bunch on the sister site that won’t activate and don’t seem to be on sale anymore? The Sonic Reality ones for example. Anyone know how to make them work or where they can be bought?

I bought BFD 3.5 as well but I'm still using 3.4 from sister site: 3.5's loading time is atrocious because of the expansion verification, while 3.4 loads instantaneously.

Like you said a couple of expansions aren't available anymore due to licensing, but you can still use the ones from sister site in 3.5. You won't see them as activated in the InMusic window, but once you're inside the plugin you should be able to load them.

Inversely, you can also use the expansions you bought and activated within InMusic inside 3.4. Which is what I'm doing because, again, the loading time in 3.5 is too annoying.

 

I would personally stick with Core BFD 3 & updated BFD branded libraries. Never found the juice being worth the squeeze from Sonic Reality.
Sonic Reality uses a serialization system that requires a specific activation scheme which can be frustrating (from my experience).

Do you have a specific reason for those libraries or is it just a want to collect them?

 

Did you use the 3.4 from the sister site or an official version?

 

The ones I was interested in were the Neal Peart and Vinnie Appice to be honest.

I'm using 3.5 because Mac silicon compatibility, got some libraries on sister site and these work but the loading times are affected by license verification. What I did is block connections to BFD servers once the plugin was authenticated and it skips the stupid loading licenses stuff (still shows expansions not authenticated but they work anyway).

 

Did you try VR's v.3.44 for Mac before this?

 

Did you uninstall the official 3.5 first?
