I recommend Opera GX with uBlock Origin & Popup Blocker (strikt) + free Opera VPN turned on with "optimal location" or "location europe".
I didn't have any freezes or similar stuff on sister site in the past months + no ads and no popups.

Sister site currently looks like this over here without login (yes, I'm using a custom design but that doesn't affect ads):


I also recommend using different browsers for different things.
Firefox is my main browser for real life things, Opera GX for everything warez related + online streaming of "not bought" movies,
Chrome for patreon and other paid video platforms because over there it's the fastest and then Firefox ESR + VPN for everything
growing weed relatedeven if it's legal now in Germany.

With a VPN in the background, I still have the free Opera VPN turned on for some "double protection". I also disabled letting
search engines like google use the regular connection in Opera which sometimes leads to getting Google's shitty reCaptcha
for every search... so just use DuckDuckGo or better the DuckDuckGo extension, which replaces google search in your browser.

I just like keeping everything legal and non legal spearated for some reasons.
