Please don't do that for a few reasons. I believe that interest will wane if there is much too much time between Non-Contests. Six weeks or even a shorter deadline might be a better way to go forward. Personally, if I miss a contest day, cie la vie, I'll either continue writing it or not and hitch my pony on the next version. If you're extending the thread for my sake it's not necessary...it's very nice of you though if that's the case but I appreciate a deadline as it helps me motivate to complete any project.

Pressure gets it done. Extra time just overcooks it.

the song will tell you when its done. trying to force it to grow in a certain amount of time, is getting in the way. just let it flow and stay out of the way. i imagine thats what being a father is like, just guide it into the world - if its ready in time it will be ready

also @Daddy Lovebone that username is the shit

    I guess I'm done.

The first of three bits of this "suite" I wanted to express a profound sadness at what might be the possibilty of life, or lack of it when artificial intelligence reaches Singularity, or when it can do or mimic anything to a greater extent than the most intelligent or physically impressive of humans. It might also usher in to an even greater degree accelerated unchecked technological growth. Humans could be wiped out if it's need of raw materials, water and self preservation impedes it's needs. The second is a short song that somewhat documents this scenario. The third is the song that I had mentioned that I penned now over 40 years ago. I never play it for people because it comes from a really dark place from a waking nightmare that visually lodged into my consciousness one day while picking of all things blueberries in our garden. I had to rewrite the 3rd verse because I forgot how it went outside of the white cliffs (of Dover) part which was there and a big part of the vision.

Everything beside the B3 part of the third song, Boom Boom, I created with patches for on my Arturia Polybrute. The acoustic guitars are my Noble and D-18. The drums other than the static quarter beat kick are my horrid 30 buck piccolo snare and the worst ride and bottom hi-hat ever. I worked in a harmonica part of course towards the end of Boom Boom. I felt it funny to mix what might be the most intimate of musical instruments (you literally wrap yourself around it with various body parts...the Jaw Harp more the same) mixed in with the opposite, synthesizers which one is playing from a distance, oscillators closed behind metal or plastic and generating sound by manipulation of electricity.

Everything went through a Neve 1073 DPA into either an Audioscape Opto or Warm WA76. I used both the Gefell UMT70S or m930, then various mostly TDR plugins along with the Jon V fircomp2, Klanghelm comps (I think the free DC1A comp is on every track), and Valhalla verbs. I tried U-he Presswork and it's freaking great. It's way expensive for a compressor though.

    Thanks for listening!

    The Singularity

Everything about it lies to control our minds
In retrospect a fairytale to keep us all in line
And then that fateful day, The Singularity
Insignificant, no longer were we free...to be
Soon enough the food ran out
    Fresh water too denied
    Rewired electricity
    To keep itself alive
    Tried to flick away
    The very last of us
Squash beneath a fist of silicon

    Boom Boom

Things got really ugly, this was no pretty scene
Their screaming bloody murder could not be heard above their screams
Things you never thought of, atrocities abound
Just people are dying and people running underground
Living underground is not like living up above
You see no people smiling 'cause your living like a grub
One time looks of full content reduced to stupid stares
The water smells, this food's unpure and death is in the air... Since it went boom boom, pow pow

Gone are the days of wine and roses
Gone are the days of family poses
    Yesterday is left behind
Tomorrow is so hard to find

Sometimes we used to take a day
    Relax down by the sea
    The white cliffs lovely backdrop
Drink a cup of yummy tea
These days are now behind us
    There'll be no Jubilee
We've been ground down to blood and guts
It's all now used to be

oooooh! If I even had 1 grocery store I'd be playing this song everyday. GREAT track Your batting average is hitting an all time high here!
I know you'd tell the truth if this track was AI.... I wish you hadn't faded it out. There's more where that came from. I'd say it's the best track so far in all the contests together. Thank you.

I overlooked the blue link even though I checked five times, so here's a short review:

The first part of your song is phenomenal, huge, and possesses a certain beauty and love.

The second part, with the piano, really gets down to business; your lyrics explain the dilemma of AI machines and total surveillance well, and you don't overwhelm the lyrics, allowing the message to come across very clearly.

The third part, with the guitar, is a vibrant, typical Lois Lane sound. The man knows his craft, brimming with joie de vivre, commitment, and love, yet still socially critical. We do care about the future.

No AI from me,, I'd never go there. I guess that I could have created an extended mishpa and in retrospect I shouldn't have faded it out so early. I usually would have gone back to the first verse and then the chorus after that perhaps 8, 12 or 16 part frenzy...but my wife likes short songs and always says that they my tunes go on and on and on, so....:disco:...this one is less than 3 minutes so I'm saved!!!

I'm glad that you liked it so much and thanks for taking the time to listen:mates:.

¿Don't we need to pick another person, or at least ask who wishes to host #16?

Ouch, I work on a piece and thought I had time since the end was delayed on 30.
I will try to cut it short to bring something before deadline.
@Lois Lane Amazing song, audacious mixes, like organ and synth blend, what a huge work you share with us

Thanks @yodadl .. I don't think that you need to stress on the date. Work at your own pace and show your song when you feel it's ready. Be like a time bandit and have your way with the continuum. I've paid off the cops so you'll have nothing to worry about.
