i used a Atari 1040ST with Emagic Logic when i was very young.
i created ~4 Eurodance etc etc 90is Vinyl records and some CD´s just with this Atari, some Studio Devices like Yamaha TG77 , Roland Devices compressor, limiter... +32 a channel Soundtrak Pult which left me bankrupt...

Now you can have all that in a 400 Euro laptop + Basic DAW

Cubase 15? People still use that in 2025? I am mildly shocked.

Been using Cubase since Atari days, these are just trivial cosmetic touches, all those useless fiddly little wotevers reminds me of Ableton.

The only recent update that made sense to pro's is multi track stem take, instead of one at a time.

I'm still waiting for the sample track to be able to map different samples one on instance, especially useful for me when playing vox in.

Also fed up with only being able to work in one sample format, happy that it's 24/44.1, but i have to convert 48k samples etc before i can use them in same project, pathetic, especially as a lot of sample packs are 48k.

I'm still on 11, I think mostly, updates are to impress hobbyists to tempt them into unecessarly upgrading.

I only use it as a seqencer recorder cos that's where the real action is...

I'm really happy about the Expression Maps updates. Digital Performer's had per-articulation delay compensation for ages and film composers have been wanting that in Cubase ever since, and it seems like the sound slots feature at 0:32 in the OP's video makes it easier to use like Studio One so that's nice as well. If it allows setting and playing of multiple articulations at once e.g. staccato on top of a legato note for libraries without sampled marcatos, that would be fantastic. I'll have to see if Dom does a deeper dive on this feature.

It's the same complaints every year by people whining over it not being a deserved update while many probably aren't even paying for the software. If you do and you don't need the new features nobody is forcing you to update. And the complaints about not updating the Dolby Atmos issue in 14 they also have provided some updates for older versions when it came to these types of bugs. Or find a DAW that has all the features that you whised Cubase ever had and make the switch.

Well except the little e licenser shutdown thingie . As far as I understood I had to buy the 14 update to be able to update later in case something useful for me will be added . Otherwise I would still use 11 or earlier

Someone recently asked me what the most noticeable change in software releases was in the last 30 years.
    My response was dead easy.

Developers thoroughly tested their product before a new version release, they never used to release anything that they knew had bugs, because they took more care so the only bugs that existed were ones that nobody, not even themselves, knew about.

Wait for their update 15.0.1 (whatever) because so far ATMOS, Stem splitter do not work reliably and they acknowledge it. WhyTF they released it knowing this is beyond me.

As with every Cubase update, €99 seems too much for just a few improvements or new features.

Steinberg is a private company that absolutely needs to generate sufficient profits for itself and its investors.
Please understand this. If you don't have that much money, please use the R2R option from the sister site.

Ok , I will def. not buy this . If I buy 16 later it will probably be 199 so I will pay that anyway . But in case there are interesting features ( for me , of course this is subjective ) I will do so without any complaints . In case I need 15 for a cooperation ( in the past earler versions could not open later versions saved projects . I think this has changed , in case this is true , thanks ) I will do exactly what you described . And stay on my (paid for ) v14 and Studio One 7

I am trying to figure out , how many times I could have bought Reaper for the money I spent on Cubase 2 and the updates (skipped many ) .It is never too late to quit smo äh changing DAWs ;-) If I were not so right brained and lazy...

I started with Pro-12/Pro-24 on Atari, then Cubase 2.01 (Owner Mike Hunter) back in the eighties. Switched to PC and used SX2/SX3 for quite some time. After that i bought my first legit Cubase version, Studio4 for €400,- somewhere around 2006.

Life happened, producing not so much, so after quite a break, i bought a Cubase Artist10 update for €99,- in 2019 (35 yrs anniversary deal), which brought back the joy of making music for me. Updated to Pro13 for another €149,- (40 yrs anniversary deal), then recently got the Pro14 update for €49,-

I'll wait till around september 2026 to get the Pro15 update for another €49,-

I just heard a little story from your perspective, please don't take it seriously:

Should I only use Studio One and delete everything else, or should I only use Reaper and delete everything else, or should I delete Studio One and Reaper and only use Steinberg? Oh, what the heck, I want everything and I'll keep all three, I can't decide. Never mind, maybe I should install FL Studio too. Ah, I have an idea, I'll stop updating and save the money over several years, and with that money I'll go on vacation or buy a synthesizer.
