haha yah, as @Will Kweks pointed out, i was being 100% sarcastic here. just being silly. To discuss what you said anyways, i for the most part agree with you, with some minor difference in view.

Sometimes limiting yourself to a mix using only analog emulations can be great. No pro q, no resonance suppressors or digital comp etc. Acting like you are mixing on a console, using only those channels and a couple pieces of "rack gear", just like the good ole days. Its amazing how sometimes this can deliver a more "musical" mix. Instead of hyper focusing on surgical eq-ing etc, using broad strokes eq (and more importantly, your ears) to achieve a tonal balance, pre-amp saturation for color etc. You get my point.

Funny enough, i really came to understand compression, and certain mix techniques by comparing plugins. I came up in the analog world. My first internship was at a studio with an SSL console and a holy grail of rack gear. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of all the classics. I used them all for a couple years, but was so green i did not really understand them yet, or could not pick up on differences in compression styles etc. Flash forward to a couple years ago, and i thought i had an understanding of compression, how to eq, and mixing overall, and i did for the most part. Flash forward to modern times, i was unable to really work, due to health reasons, and found my self twiddling my thumbs, with the occasional zoom session or project i could work on. I spent a lot of time just messing about with plugins, pulling up 6 versions of an 1176 etc. In this time i started to really pick up on differences. What a change in an attack / release time can bring, the importance of sidechain filters, the different types of compression. Of course this applies to everything else... Experimenting with all the different saturation types and techniques, eqing, reverbs, delays, whatever! Its in these tests that i became fully confident in my technique, and actually started developing different templates for the first time in my career, after 20 years or so of being a full time producer.

Ive mentioned this before, but i do have my "go-to" plugins, in templates, or easily pulled up with a key mapping or tags in the browser. However, i also own and still buy many other plugins, that i use with a random loading function. If i need a delay, i'll hit random in the delay category, and it will load a random delay from my collection. I have this set up for all of my plugins. I find it keeps things fun for me, and often times leading to unexpected and great results. If the randomly loaded plugin doesn't work for that particular instance, i can either load another, or just load a "go-to". You may think, hmmmm this sound needs a delay, probably a clean, digital one, but hey, lets try random! it loads a messy, warbly, lo-fi tape delay, and it works perfectly. Fun, keeps things exciting and makes me enjoy mixing more than just the monotonous X sound needs Y plugin, rinse repeat.

They described it wonderfully, congratulations on your insights and views, I would like to add:

Theoretically, you could take all the hardware from a large, well-known, and successful Hollywood studio's recording studio, turn the hardware into software, and sell it as a bundle. So, 12 plugins that allow you to deliver studio-quality mixes. Then you go offline and never log back onto the internet. You'd have a simpler, more secure system. Buy several keyboards and audio interfaces of the same brand and model so that if something breaks, you have replacements and the appropriate drivers for your system, for example, for Windows 10 or macOS.

(Yes, but...) As you know, this doesn't work because every inventor/programmer wants to make money. So, if they invent a product that offers added value, people will buy it; if not, they'll disappear from the market. Besides, people are constantly inventing new things; this is called technological progress, and it can never be stopped.

What is the point of this comment?

The Witches clearly stated "Sacrifice the Ivory libraries to welcome the Black Friday."

While that could be interpreted in several different ways, I would not be at all surprised if it means
we (the witches) have given you the means to create your own Gong (Black Friday) by sharing your own legit
    libraries.

In other words, share what you have instead of taking without giving back and, they would be 100% correct to do so.

If there is more to come then it will happen when it happens.

Your missing the whole point and I am not going to get in to a debate about it if you do not want to listen and learn.

Last night someone told me on this thread that Spitfire Player's stuff were already cracked by Chinese sources but never really went into further details, so I'm not so sure whether it's entirely true or if it's gonna be one of the big releases by the end of this year, but I'll still hope for it

I sort of interpreted it as a test.... Donate your libraries, and in return, we will deliver even more Gong during Black Friday. I would say if anyone has any of these libraries donate them. If anyone is using the new release, and is stoked for it, maybe consider purchasing a library ot contribute to the movement and keep things rolling. A win for everyone. You help your fellow members get some more sounds, giving back to the community that has given so much, and in return, we get continued movement from the witches. I could be wrong, but thats how i interpreted it.

I think you're onto something. Maybe they're hinting at getting all the libraries on discount on Black Friday to share with the community. Who knows.

This way of proceeding is a virtual replica of a studio change: since not all studios have the same hardware/software (except of course some great classics), when you mix each time in a different studio, you must use different hardware/software every time.

I'm eternally grateful to R2R for solving a problem for me a while back, I needed to redo a bit on a project that had iZotope Trash (the first one, not the later day one) and iZotope's activation servers were on the fritz so I couldn't activate my legit copy. A quick download and my problem was sorted.

That said, whatever comes through the pipeline is going to be good regardless of whether I want it or like it. I personally like when big multi-gig things get sorted, because there's often no demo and even then I'm wary of demos that require several hoops to jump through just to try it.

Like I've been teetering on pulling the trigger on Omnisphere, an instrument I respect because of their sound design chops and one that my friend and occasional collab worships. So now I can try it on my leisure for a couple of days and come to the conclusion (again) that it's not for me. Was the same with Falcon and the libraries a few Gongs ago. Was the same with things like Studio One and so on.

I think we're all taking this business a bit too seriously now, let's just chill out and enjoy the ride!

At the end of August, one user wrote on a sister site that he had found Spitfire plugins on a Chinese website and bought BBC SO from them. When I asked him where he bought it, he sent me a link to a Chinese e-shop where several Spitfire plugins are indeed available for a ridiculous price. Honestly, I don't know if it's real because otherwise it would already be available somewhere, right?

I mean at that point I'd just keep waiting for a crack to appear, if having to buy from another 3rd-party out-sourced shop then it's basically not a crack anyway. Those that keep saying "there's a source somewhere" without actually providing any real proof besides hearsay might have just had a cheap license.
