So... everyone agrees that, when an aspiring producer starts making money off of their productions, he/she should buy legit copies of the stuff they use..

I totally agree... but what I wonder is...

how many of y'all, are going to actually go buy the samplepacks you use?

Will any of you buy all of them?

Some of them? such as Goldbaby, or Wave Alchemy etc.

Or how bout none of them?

I'd love to know what others views are

    My 2 cents:

    Agree

Well if nobody bought them they would not be around anymore or produce more samplepacks

    I dont use samplepacks
But just from what i see in AudioZ and similar sites there seems to be no end of to the flow of new releases and most of them have that same name i.e Sampleaddicts Big Kick Dance bla bla bla Pack 3000 and hey lookout for the next release coming next month Sampleaddicts Big Kick Dance bla bla bla Pack 3001

    If you buy samples/ vst/presets

you can more accurately control the direction you are going in, and on what day, rather than get what comes out when on piracy.

if you like the pack/vst/preset buy another from the same company

Buy stuff even if you don't make money with music, I buy food because I want eat. are you that poor that you are a $20 criminal.

if a vst is buggy, never use it

if its not finished like Live 9 (Live 9 has bad PDC) borrow it until they fix it. then wait the equal amount of time that you were beta testing it, and then buy it.

if you use a vst and like it talk about it.

tell people about stuff you use on social networks.

    Find a balance

you respect "things you buy" in a totally different way.

    more samples/vst/presets = less music

piracy can make you an archiver.

if you see samples, get them and think i love them..i must get the other 5 in the set, you are probably an archiver. or Thanks for the share all i need now is bla bla .(really annoying begging requests for $20 samples)you are probably an archiver too

it you think i love these samples, I'll use them today and maybe next week buy another pack for these guys. that's about right. then you can offset the pack you bought with the pack you stole.

with vst PAID = technical support (apart form Live) so this is always really good

things a really cheap, so treat yourself.

create a sample pack vst or presets see how long it takes...see how you feel about piracy :)

    I think that it

    Well said man.

I totally agree with you in some of that. If you bought a sample pack or plugin, you would get the most out of it as you possibly could, if i bought ONE plugin, say, Reaktor, for example. I would spend so much time on it, getting used to it, but because i download so many plugins and sample packs illegally/free, i'm just overflowing with shit. Sample packs here and there, plugins here and there, it's become a really bad habit... I spend more time searching the web (well, just AudioZ tbh,) downloading sample packs and plugs, and not making music....

I said to a friend once, you know, when I do start making good money off of my productions/DJing, I am going to get in touch with the plugin/sample pack devs and say "i illegally downloaded your software/pack, i was broke, but now i would like to pay you for it"..

All the ones i actually use in my tracks, I'll get in touch with the devs, and pay for. Or simply just buy the software, whatever. I only pirate because i can not afford to buy it all. So maybe, after this here, I will stop illegally downloading stuff, and just use what ive got and learn what i have!!! otherwise it just becomes a disease!

    Anyone else relate to me?

I'm a bit more awake now so I can elaborate a little.

IMHO it doesn't really make sense to become professional if you don't wanna be legit. If you really wanna do sth you should go all the way.

If you wanna be a pirate you should do that all the way. Stay underground with your stuff and don't give a crap about any kinda money or business.

I was fortunate to work professionally with music for some years and during that time I bought everything I used.
That was actually part of the fun, not just makin money for myself but being part of the pro community and able to support some other guys that I thought made great products. Also when it's your job you should be able to make tax deductions for everything so it's not like some sample packs would be a big expense.

Unless you buy Pro Kopyz vol 598 of course. It costs a lot, but that's cause it's essential :)

stuff used in a public release must be legit. Be it samples or be it a plugin. It doesn't matter if the release is successfull or not. Everyone who decides to publish his work via YT or any label has the fucking obligation to pay. No later. Otherwise we will run out of software :excl:
