I’d love to start a discussion here about plugins that are over 20 years old, yet their sound still hasn’t been truly replicated.One example that comes to mind is QuadraFuzz v1

Hypersonic 2 by wizoo, now Air (AIR Music Technology started as Wizoo Sound Design). They made Xpand!, but Hypersonic give you full control of each patch, and is a full blown synth, its coded efficiently and sound design is excellent. Still one of the greatest VST romplers not emulating a hardware keyboard from Roland, Korg, etc. I still use it till this day.

 

Probably some LinPlug stuff, old Z3ta was cool as I remember from top of my head, great thread!

NI pro 53 was on my machine until 2 months ago, when my hd started to die. New system now, trying to reinstall just the 64 bit vsts I really used.

There is not much point but nostalgia in listing Mac 32 bit plugins, and I have not kept track of what Windows 32 bit plugins died or got badly re-written 64 bit versions done. So I got GPT to kick me out a list instead, and it included some good ones I have forgotten about. I did like UGO Metallurgy, URS Classic Compressors, Linn CronoX, etc. I don't remember using Tobybear anything, but I left them.

DigitalFishPhones Spitfish, definitely. There was an official site with free downloads untill last year or the one before. Spitfish is still my go-to deesser, specially in a mastering context. It tends to be less effective but more transparent than modern deessers.

Spinner LE is a good Leslie simulator based on chorus. I find it more convincing than the 'true' modern emulations I've tried. Leslie is a rare secondary spice in my mixes.

 

Vaz Modular
While it's admittedly a lesser virtual analog synth or modular emulator than some of the more recent ones, it still has a unique character.

 

is anywhere I can find it? Tried sistersite but there's nothing
