Roland TR-1000 Rhythm Creator Drum Machine Coming Soon

A new drum machine is coming soon from Roland, the TR-1000 Rhythm Creator.

Roland has not shared full details yet, but Sweetwater features the new drum machine in its latest catalog, above.

Here’s what they have to say about the new Roland TR-1000 Rhythm Creator drum machine:

“The Roland TR-1000 Rhythm Creator marries historic heat, analog presence and digital precision into a polychromic powerhouse, built on the masterfully re-created circuits of the legendary TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines. Its hybrid architecture houses a trio of synth engines, bringing a prismatic palette of FM, PCM and VA possibilities to the TR-1000’s analog foundations, with ACB modeling supplying the coveted circuit-bent sonics of the 8x and 9x models.

Over 2,5000 onboard sounds join a wealth of digital and analog effects, while the suite of classic-to-contemporary connectivity effortlessly integrates the TR-1000 into any arrangement. Add in cutting-edge Morphing performance controls, next-gen TR-REC sequencing, true-stereo re/sampling and an unbridled array of sonic countouring tools, and you’ve only scratched the surface of the TR-1000’s kaleidoscopic capabilities – vintage heart, modern soul and endless exploration waiting to be discovered by you.”

Official details for the Roland TR-1000 Rhythm Creator still to be announced by Roland.

interesting. The "circuit bent" part has my attention. Ive bent a couple roland drum machines over the years, fantastic sounds and grooves.

That's an odd way of saying they're all ACB models with analog FX, right? This sounds like a turbocharged TR-8S with a nice interface. Which is not bad thing at all though, the TR8S (and the TR6S) sounds ace.

Note, I'm not ragging on Roland, they still do some great stuff, but they've not done anything analogue since the late '80s, have they? I'm not convinced this is a real hybrid drum box like the Korg Drumlogue is.

    What even are "ACB Models"?

Analog Circuit Behavior aka ACB is Roland's (marketing) term for their analog modelling stuff, the thing they've been using for their VA synths in the last 10 years or so.

So when you dial in a 909 kick on TR8S, that's an "ACB model" instead of a sample.

And the design looks very cool. I really hated that DJ green neon plastic attitude . It stopped me from even considering buying Rolands. It's not in vain that I waited. Will look nice besides my Machinedrum, actually looks like tr707 (which I have too) or 909 and Machinedrum had a baby:drummer:

I'm not even taking 'analog fx' to actually mean 'analog fx' until I see a signal chain chart from Roland. But yeah, on its face looks like TR8s with improved UI and maybe another engine? I Dunno, they specify VA, so maybe a full subtractive drum voice in addition to the specific ACB models? Roland also slaps stuff like VCA and VCF on their not at all analog products... so, they've already established they can be a tad loose with the language at times.

Regardless, TR8/6s machines are great bang for buck all rounders. If nothing else, looks like they improved the interface.

Closest they came to analog in the last... 2...3? decades was subsidizing Studio Electronics to release the SE-02.

nice.. but i think this is not needed.. and is unnesesary because its better to load drum samples into a drum sampler in the daw
    i mean...

16 x real analog 808/808 engines, 21 ACB 808/909 engines plus VA, FM, PCM ....

    BUT

    Only 10 instruments/audio outs at once ??

    Priced at 2700€ ???

Sick, expensive, and very strange move from Roland (didnt they said they wont do analog again ?) ...

    At that price you can buy 3x RD9 + 3x RD8 + 1x TR8S ...

Something like this was never going to come cheap. Given the connectivity (two times DIN sync?!) it's obviously a niche item. Though the connectivity is odd... so two MIDI/SYNC24 sockets, but only one dedicated trigger out? Looks like you can sacrifice some of the indy outs to add more, but...

Anyways, looks like a cool box after all, despite my earlier wariness, having resampling built in is a freaking awesome feature, especially with a lot of different voices to begin with. You could probably craft a fairly detailed kit starting with nothing but the built-ins. And then sequence an entire tune with it a'la 909.

Remains to be seen if they managed not to Roland it and avoid full-on menu diving* in parts, but hey, a new Roland drum box is never a bad thing!

*) See the P-6 for a typical Roland experience. I wanted one, tried one and could not make heads or tails of it though on paper it's an awesome little box. Maybe one day...

If this has got that Roland s770 sound quality on the samples then its going to be a beast, it looks similar build quality. Its packing a lot of tech in one box and if it has the genuine analog 808/909 sound then I'd be very tempted as those machines are the gold standard, if you want kit that's built to last a lifetime this could be it.

very cool. however with so much going on, i feel like this thing may be unintuitive to use. lots of menu diving. i'll probably buy one anyways, but wait and see if any pop up on the used market

They actually did it. That's really surprising. Roland 40 years ago... new products! Bombs. Roland today... here is everything you said you wanted. Booo! Heh.

I don't think they're going to have any problems selling this. 'DAWless' has become a (marketing) religion. Roland just gave them a new messiah.

If they did actually clone and not replicate then there are also plenty of buyers who will already be sold on just the 808/909 bit. Could condense and greatly simplify the setup for certain types too, be it live or just trimming down the studio.

The TR-1000 also includes a software editor. It serves as a sound manager that allows you to import samples into the device.
It’s also an editor for the sound engines, giving a full overview of each track, mixer, and effects.
