    Izmar - VMPC2000XL (MPC Plugin) VST3, AU, LV2 - Free

VMPC2000XL by Izmar is a Virtual Instrument Audio Plugin and a Software Application for macOS, Windows and Linux.
It functions as an Audio Units Plugin, a VST 3 Plugin, a LV2 Plugin and a Standalone Application.

VMPC2000XL is an emulator of the classic Akai MPC2000XL sampler/sequencer.

    Features:

    - Linux, macOS and Windows support.
    - Available as standalone applications and VST3/AU/LV2 plugins.
    - Load/save most of the MPC2000XL file formats: APS, ALL, PGM, SND, MID, WAV.
    - Raw USB volume (CF card) support with Akai FAT 16.3 filenames.
    - Every screen and function tries to be 100% like the original.
    - Multi-track direct-to-disk recording, a.ka. "bouncing", to WAV with offline rendering option.
    - Basic MIDI in/out.

    VMPC2000XL does not:

    - Mimic the signal path, analog inputs/outputs so it doesn't make your samples sound "warm" or "dirty".
    - Make it very easy to create beats and manage sounds like modern equipment and software. Its only purpose is to emulate the MPC2000XL.
    - 100% mimic the digital per-voice filter. It contains an approximation which was tweaked by ear, so it's possible that a setting on the 2000XL doesn't sound the same in the emulator.
    - Emulate the optional EB16 FX board.

Your post (and its replies) made me curious about KBplugs, and I found out that a CyRinx II VST exists. The developer has retired and his blog is no longer online, but in the Facebook group Free VST Plugins, some people have contacted him and shared many of his creations on Dropbox and Google Drive. There’s a download link with nearly all the VSTs he made, and even the developer himself has posted some additional links. I think nearly all VSTs has 64 bits vst2 versions. And the CyRinx II have some presets :)

Adam Szabo - Airwave Emulator to JP-8080

Step into the golden era of electronic music with Airwave, a meticulously crafted VST plugin that brings the unmistakable sound of one of the most iconic synthesizers of all time. Revered for its lush supersaw leads, ethereal pads, and driving basslines, this synth was a defining force in the trance, progressive, and electronic music movements. Now, with Airwave, that iconic sound is reborn, modernized for today’s producers while staying true to its original character.
At the heart of Airwave is its dual-layer architecture, allowing for intricate sound sculpting and massive stacked tones. Independently shape the Upper and Lower layers, blending evolving pads with sharp, detuned leads or creating complex, rhythmic textures. The deep modulation capabilities and multi-mode filters give you total control over your sound.

Airwave is available as a 32 and 64-bit VST 2.4 and VST 3 instrument for Windows.

69€ (haha yes funny) and Windows-only? Right before The Usual Suspects release their own 8080 emulator?
    Is he THAT desperate? Embarrassing.

More likely just not the best timing. You can tell just from the interface that he obviously put a lot of work into it. There's no way he found out they were making an emulator and just slapped it together.

Stryde Audio Swayed: a Yamaha SY77 FM Synthesizer emulation for your DAW - March 31, 2026

Stryde Audio Swayed is an authentic emulation of the Yamaha SY77 from 1989, featuring FM synthesis and sample-based content.

Following the Roland JX-8P and Crumar DS-2, another vintage synth is now available as a plugin. Those active in the KVR Audio forum have likely been following Stryde Audio’s project for over a year.

The developer has been working on an authentic virtual reproduction of the Yamaha SY77 from 1989. The wait is over: Stryde Audio has today released Swayed.

    Stryde Audio Swayed
Swayed is modeled after the famous Yamaha SY77 Synthesizer from 1989. The special feature of the SY-77 is that it can generate classic Yamaha FM synthesis and also play back sample-based content.

This combination allows for the creation of some unique timbres—from realistic to synthetic, and everything in between.

Stryde Audio has recreated the engine so authentically and accurately that you can even load SysEx patches into Swayed. Better, patches made with Swayed can also be loaded into the original hardware by exporting them as SysEx files.

Like the original hardware, it has two main cores: an FM synthesis core and a sample-based core.

The FM part features a 6-operator FM synthesis module with 15 waveforms and 3 configurable feedback paths. It has 45 factory algorithms, or you can draw your own signal flows/algorithms in freeform mode.

Each operator also has the same feature, including two inputs that can come from another operator, a feedback path, noise, or even a sample from a waveform element within the same patch. You also get a dedicated envelope, key scaling curve, and LFO modulation option per operator.

    The PCM Part
Yes, the sample-based PCM part is also onboard. According to Stryde Audio, they recreated the waveforms/samples from scratch using a mix of custom recordings, public domain samples, and synthesis. So, they didn’t copy and paste them from the original hardware.

Swayed includes 112 preset waveforms and 81 unique expansion card waveforms not available elsewhere. You can also import your own waveform ROM files in the correct hardware format. Simply place your files in the Waveforms folder, and they will be loaded automatically.

According to the developer, they plan to release an update in the future to load your own audio files and to build custom multisample waveforms. That would be a big thing, especially for Yamaha SY-77 users.

Stryde Audio Swayed offers dual 12dB/oct resonant filters (LPF/HPF and one LPF), allowing you to shape both FM and PCM parts.

Operator, sample volumes, pitch, and filter cutoff can be modulated with envelopes. Alongside these, you also get two multi-wave LFOs for additional animation in your patch.

    Effects
Not only were the operators, PCM samples, and filters emulated, but also the effects.

Swayed features the same 44 built-in effects, including modulation FX (chorus, tremolo, flanger, or ensemble) and reverb FX, with different reverb types, as well as delay, distortion, EQ, and hybrid combinations.

Each effect includes individual volume and dry/wet controls for precise sound shaping. There are three different effects routing configurations: serial, parallel, and mixed, which fall between the two.

Further, you can select from 64 panning envelopes to create a rich, evolving stereoscopic sound field.

    Stryde Audio Swayed First Impression
A project I’ve been following in the forum for a long time. I’m very happy to see that the plugin is now available.

For everyone who loves the SY77 sounds, there’s now an authentic emulation. It’s also a highlight for hardware users because it makes it easy to design new patches from scratch. I can’t say how authentic the plugin’s sound is, as I’ve never owned a SY77.

Stryde Audio Swayed is available now for $99/99€. It runs as a VST3 and AU plugin on macOS and Windows.

EM-900 — Digital Sampler Emulator Plugin

EM-900 meticulously emulates the DAC circuits, low-pass filter topologies, and signal characteristics of 17 legendary samplers from the 80s and 90s. Run anything through it and instantly add warm, crunchy, lo-fi character to your sound.

Get the SP-1200's grit and aliasing artifacts. The MPC60's chest-thumping low end.
The S950's steep analog filter. The Casio SK-1's crushed, toy-grade texture.

Recreate the aliasing artifacts made famous by the 90s hip-hop detuning technique on the SP-1200, and apply that effect to any sampler in the collection. Or stretch your breakbeats and samples through the S950/S1000 style timestretch engine to get the metallic, phasey, stuttering artifacts that defined 90s Jungle and Drum & Bass music.

Every sampler and filter in EM-900 is modular. Pair the SP-1200's aggressive DAC with the S950's steep filter. Run MPC60 bit crushing through the Emax's ladder. Stack aliasing on top of any combination. Mix and match to create something entirely your own.

Whether you're after crunchy drums, thick samples, or an entire mix drenched in texture, EM-900 gets you there in seconds. Decades of character in one plugin.

I wouldn't say this emulates any specific hardware sampler. It is only a very simple sampler with some tweaks available, to resemble roughly the character of those 17 mentioned machines. It does not follow the original DSP, nor the original workflow, nor the original functionality.

We've already seen similar approach in TAL-Sampler, which also isn't a dedicated emulation of any specific hardware sampler. Just the "vibe".

Well, it turns out that this not even an instrument (VSTi), but only an FX that can be applied to a track. So definitely not an emulation of any specific hardware synth.

Quite a gimmick, thank goodness there was a demo. But as far as I understand, it emulates all 17 promised effects, just as effects!

what else is a DAC for? of course its a FX plugin.

u can analyse with noise, how it is effected by DAC of the various gear listed.

But i guess we already have TAL DAC or Decimort 2 for that.

I pointed that only because we're in a thread titled "List of VSTi's emulating specific hardware synths" - so an FX does not belong here.

But to be honest, it was the description supplied by the dev that was deceiving - one could get the impression that the plugin is an instrument.
