i've been using the yamaha montage plugin for a little while - the plugin supposedly supports motif xf files, so i tried loading a couple in (Jamal's Flash Drive and Chick Corea Mark V). they don't work.

jamal's flash drive has no sound, while the bank for chick corea mark v straight up doesn't have any patches loaded in.

someone more experienced than me pls help &_&

 

I imported the motif es sounds however I don't remember how I did it so I cant help you but if I figured it out you defiantly can

 

Perhaps you already knew this, but to include all sounds the file needs to be saved form the original synth as an .ALL file and loaded on the Montage in the same way.

 

i have the .ALL files... when i load them into the montage esp plugin, it says 'some keybanks were not loaded'. none of the patches output sound, unlike the factory presets or montage specific libraries.

it's odd because the plugin manual specifies that it supports X3A (motif xf) files. i'm wondering if anyone else has had issues with motif xf libraries with the plugin, or if it's also an issue with the hardware

Unfortunately, you can't. Yamaha just lied when they boasted about the Montage's compatibility with XF/XS libraries (or rather, they withheld one key detail but that's the same as lying in my book)
Commercial and first party libraries (anything that uses the proprietary Yamaha compression/encryption algorithm from the XS/XF) don't work. Period. They either refuse to load, sound really distorted (again proprietary compression/encryption that somehow didn't make the cut) or don't play at all (most likely incorrect mappings) as is the case with the Sweetwater Anniversary library for the XF (whether it still contains Chick's Mark V or not)
The VST reproduces this behavior a little too accurately.
In the meantime you can get the free Montage-specific libraries from the Yamaha shop here https://pixeldrain.com/u/2jrJaqsQ (no this isn't anything paid, it's just the free libraries from the shop) they work perfectly fine.

I was able to load a few XF/XS libraries fine. I'm not aware/can't tell if what I have is encrypted or not. If someone can tell me what to look for, I can try some experiments. I also have the latest Chicken Systems Translator Pro, so maybe I could try to rebuild a problematic library for you? Let me know!

 

The only ones that seem to work just fine are the ones that don't actually add any new samples, think something like Stage & Studio from EasySounds. Maybe 100% homebrewed libraries from something like John Melas' tools work too but so far no library that adds new sample has worked right for me, I tested a good chunk of my own XF libraries and none work right if they add new samples. I'll keep testing them but I don't have high hopes for them.
