Hi All,

If it's not appropriate to post this here please let me know, but I am having some difficulty with R2R keygens (only) on my Win 11 PC. Once I have them on my computer they do not open at all, although other keygens work fine.

I have taken all the usual precautions with Defender switched off and being offline etc. when installing.

I've never had this issue before with any keygens and I've read all the other threads here about similar issues and tried everything that has been suggested.

Any help would be gratefully received.

OK all done..should I retry a keygen now?....or are there specific settings I need to set up in the O&O ShutUp10 software?....

 

If you've run O&O, there's an automatic settings menu at the top. It does everything automatically.
After that, you should restart your PC, turn off your Defender, and open the keygens!

Unfortunately I still have the same issue after trying everything above. I guess I must have messed something up but thanks for all your help.

 

I am not sure but maybe the R2R keygens need the R2R root certificate. I have it installed so can not test, but lots of R2R stuff does!

 

To be on the safe side, download the keygens again and always leave the files originally packed; defender does not scan packed files!

Step-by-Step Fixes
Try these one at a time, restarting your PC after each if needed, and test the keygen in an offline state.

1. Fully Disable Controlled Folder Access (Often the Culprit):
   • Windows 11's Controlled Folder Access can block exe launches to "protected" folders like Documents/Downloads without telling you.
   • Go to Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Manage ransomware protection (under Ransomware protection).
   • Toggle "Controlled folder access" to Off. (It might prompt for admin rights.)
   • Move the keygen to a non-protected folder (e.g., C:\Temp or a new folder on your desktop), then try launching as admin (right-click > Run as administrator).
   • Why this works: R2R exes often get silently denied write/execute access here, even with real-time protection off.

Add Exceptions for Dependencies:

• R2R often needs Visual C++ runtimes. If missing, it might fail silently.
• Download/install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (2015-2022 x86/x64) from www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one

 

It's not all that simple and sometimes the devil is in the details.
Which keygen for which software did you download, then I can understand it!

The issue for me is more related to the use and sterilization of Windows Defender under W11 rather than the use of keygens.

I'll allow myself to put my cents to this post as well, I recently switched to a machine under windows 11, I made sure to delete all the telemetry, bloatware and intrusive widgets included in 11, despite having put my folder containing my audioz files in defender exclusions and having deactivated it when I open a keygen, it opens without problem on my side but it closes very quickly like after 1 minute not even the defender takes over and closes it automatically as if it were an attack and it obviously detects it as an attack, generally I go to the alerts and authorize the excluded keygen then the possibility that it is shut down by defender but it remains tedious if one of you knows a method to have total control over windows defender so that it really leaves us alone when manipulating with software like those of r2r the more time passes the more I want to redo An installation of my machine under Windows 10, in short!

All advice, feedback, and welcome. By the way, WinScript by flick9000 is an essential tool today for anyone who wants to have even a little control over their system, with as many limitations as Windows 11.

I did not install the latest network service package provided by r2r and I never had to use the r2r certified root knowing that I cruelly trust what I find on sister site, I happened to download r2r versions on rutracker but it is very rare and then suddenly I remain suspicious of their contributions they are very capable of modifying a release by hiding things when opening the zip or the keygen in short computers make you paranoid
