I can't even think of the words to describe how this makes me feel. Until you've seen it you have no real clue as to how damaging and fucked up this is.

I accidently landed in a site showing things that I won't go into about and will forever be scarred into my brain. I landed there looking up a band on Facebook and clicking on their "official" webpage. Turned out they neglected it, and it got taken over and turned into what it was turned into.

I already have a drink and drug problem, but I spiralled. Constantly getting fucked up and looking for fights because I felt like I needed to be punished for what I'd seen for not even 5 seconds. I'm getting angry typing about it now. It took months and months before I actually opened up to someone about it because I was terrified of how I'd be viewed despite the fact that I didn't have a fucking clue what that site was. Hopefully was! I'm from the UK, the band is from the USA, I tried for so, so long to find anywhere to report it! It's fucking ridiculous how difficult it is to report something like this! In the end I spoke directly to the band, and they said that they'd notify the FBI. I don't know if that's how it works, but I fucking hope it's gone and whoever put it there has been made to pay with their life, and even that won't be enough for what I saw for less than 5 seconds.

I see people arguing over little things in this thread. Like, fucking get a grip! This is so fucking serious, and it should be allowed to go unreported. Like, How the fuck do these people think it's fine to just say oh, yeah, take the CP down, it'll be fine! No! Fuck them!

I'm done. I don't know if I finished making my point. I don't want to read it again to know.

 

it also should be easy to understand that as a company, if you were against doing something like they talked about doing in Taiwan: you’d address it as false. especially if you got word that it got sent in a mass email to your clients

if or until that happens, the only actual evidence and fact we have currently is the email stating how they feel - denying that is denying the reality of the situation currently

 

I absolutely agree. I wasn't going to come back to this because of how pissed off this whole thing made me, but curiosity got the better of me to see if someone would reply with something sensible to say. Thank you for doing so.

It seems like people do not realize how much money companies like Google, Facebook/Meta, Tiktok, Twitter/x, Discord, etc. have to spend on policing content from users. Obviously, Katfile made a very stupid statement about this issue, and none of us know if they were hacked or not still. But they all face the same problems. It turns out, the internet is a veritable hotbed of illegal activity. Who knew?

 

I mean, it's so crazily-unhinged-fucked-up one has to consider the possibility of hacking.

@Xupito thats life though, usually when shocking shit happens, it doesnt seem real at first. a lot of shit thats hard to believe or understand the logic behind, happens everyday around the world and it is actually what it is

I don't mean just the statement they made, because "delete it yourself" is pretty screwed up. But the rest of stuff going on with them, meaning the registration prompting for free downloaders, the possible browser hijack/ PUPware, and any other reasons which moved sister site to other hosters. When that all started, I predicted 6 months or less until they are gone, or as Saint put it "about to scam". That was only July...
Even more clear signs of "obvious hacking" in that context can't be assumed true either.

But complaining that anonymous, free, "bulletproof" hosting being used by non-Better Business Bureau accredited individuals is so shocking suggests some very naive or willfully ignorant commenters.

 

That was an important part of my difference with fellow user Grape Ape here. It shocked me at first too but then quickly that harsh fact "where shit fits, shit fills" popped out in my mind.

And it must happen in most file hosters of this kind.

 

i dont believe the reactions to this are rooted in naivety of running an online company of this kind. getting a fucked up email like that from a site you supported or used is upsetting, its human to be bothered by some shit like that - having a place where you can talk about and express it is useful, most therapy is based around that concept for a reason

I feel a bit in the middle of you both. Also, one thing is to know in most places lie skeletons and another thing discovering them.
That email is so unhinged that it's still hard to believe to me. Again, I do think it can be true.

In this I think we can all agree: fuck hard Katfile whatever the case
