Even if I can't help but thinking that if you need all those tools for a master, you should go back to mixing...
And professionnaly, if I receive a track where I find the balance between vocals and drums odd, I contact the artist and ask for a new file. And before that, I ask if he's ok with my diagnostic, or if it's an artistic choice... man I can't count the number of times where artists have made choices I wouldn't have! Not to say they were wrong at all, just to say that it was their vision, and utlimately, the track is theirs.

So to me, Ozone is too "powerfull" for a mastering engineer's needs on one side. and on the other side, if you master your own work and need all those tools, then you should take a step back an modify your track on the mixing level....
Third option is maybe I'm a little too old-fashioned

 

Now this time, Ozone became a monster of advanced stem separator, a better stem remixer, mix restoration system, transient/punch recovery and with better maximizer. At last, this is a good digital mastering plugin) top

 

So does this mean we get an RX update soon? Usually they go together

 

no way! i want ozone 5 back! i have nostalgic feelings about that UI

but tbh im impressed they still come up with new features. IRC 3 was already good enough and i mean you dont even do more than -2 or -3 db gain reduction in the final maximizer/Limiter

 

Yeah it's overloaded and myself was never convinced by things it suggests on the master bus. So I put Ozone aside.
When I came back I started using single modules as mixing tools and finally started liking Ozone, it comes handy and very easy to use at times.

 

Ozone 13 will offer DEMASTERING function to master music from scratch again...

That's why some developers are forced to discover new physics.

 

I´ve heard that at some point someone discovered some CD-player(probably Sony xx) back in CD era and they would burn a cd and play tracks thru it while capturing it sounding more "Ozoned". Mastering guys.

These companies have to continue exsisting because we like being updated, update me with everything, make me updated in every sense 0-24, get 2 cores assigned to telemetry only so i can just be a vessel.

Focusing on plugins while producing is like focusing on the birds while playing tennis.
Everyone know´s that -> more options = more creativity.

i used ozone many years ago but i try to do mastering my own way.. without the use of these so called mastering suite plugins.. i dont say they are bad but i just dont like to work this way

 

Ozone still can be a double check of your work. Also, as people have mentioned already; many of the features are more pertinent to what some call mixing, more than mastering. You can use them individually in your DAW as plugins, even if you do not use the entire thing. The biggest "Con" is the disk space.

 

Amazing tool for mastering. The new modules are very welcome (especially the Unlimiter module and the Bass Control module), IRC 5 is as clean as a glacial lake. The only downside is the massive latency (30+ FUCKING THOUSAND SAMPLES LOL) and the 40%+ CPU usage when using some of the modules.

upgrade cost is wild tho. $320.00 insane. i'll definitely be using an alternative version.
