So I have a few projects that I did 3 years ago and I don't remember which library I used in the instruments, I already have kontakt installed, but it's a new version so it doesnt get loaded when I open the project, it only says that the plugin "kontakt" is missing and since it doesnt even open kontakt I cant know which library was used, is there any way to solve this?

    I'm using FL Studio

Install Kontakt 5/6/7 in parallel. Check again once your project loads properly. The entire Kontakt patch gets saved with your project - you should be able to figure it out from there.

This may sound like nagging, but I've learned the hard way myself! if you feel you have a piece of music worth revisiting afterwards then always write down in the track or either on some sort of notepad what plugin, preset, settings you've used. Or even better, save track presets if possible.

Kontakt 7 switched to VST3. So also the location of where the plugin is stored has changed as opposed to Kontakt 5 and 6.

In your case you can try to just install the older version of Kontakt (5, or 6) and scan the directories where your libraries reside. Old versions of Kontakt can always coexist along side newer versions'.

After this it should load your libraries in the project without any issues?

Install older Kontakt, the libraries will begin to load. If you don't have them anymore you'll see a window saying something like "oh we didn't find the samples bro noooooo" and there you should be able to see what the library was based on the name of the files or the folder it was searching on.

Hey Guys, I am having this problem:

I was working on a project 1 year ago with 5 instances of Kontakt 7 (portable), Win 10, FL Studio24
I bought new SSDs and moved the libraries.
When I open the project I got that error that libraries are not found and a List of what is missing.

Now, the problem: the error show me the missing files for just 2 of the 5 libraries and let me search for the folder/files, so I can locate them.

But 3 instances, including my Bass, does not show anything. No error, no missing nothing.

When I open the Kontakt window of my bassline I see "Empty", not even a clue of what was the library

I tried 2 hex editors but no lucky inspecting the .flp files.

This is hard because I just can't use any bass preset I have, this bassline has Arp and another fx that made it unique. It will be sooooooo hard to reproduce.

Is there anything I can do to discover what was the library?

What if you delete from the project the Kontakt instances it is showing the libraries for, then save the project (with a new name of course) and try loading this saved project if you get it to show them now. Just something I*d try, probably won't work but worth a shot

Thank you for the tip. I deleted the instances that the error shows what the libraries was and re-saved the project

When I open it now my bass instance says: "Loading instruments has failed, as their libraries are not installed on this computer"
but do not give a clue about what was the library despite I have all the libraries in the internal SSD

thank you again for the try

I found a new clue about the missing bassline Kontakt 7 instance:

I did an automation for "Macro2 Dirty"

I know you all are ninjas, so what library has macro2 dirty, huh?

EDIT: I am thinking its one of the N.I Play Series, because of the macros they have.
but there's ten libraries with hundreds of presets.
wasted 24 hours toasting my brain with this.

I tried to re-do the bass with other VSTs, but you know... it was perfect before. It's hard

after 3 days in a row... running through thousands of presets I gave up and started from scratch.
The result was ok, but not great. I could recreate the arp pattern with perfection, but the tone was not there.

    So,
I started to compare the date I compose the song (June.2024) and the date I copied the library folders.
And that led me to libraries I really didn't think I could use to make a bassline

In the End, was Signal by Output.
I had to remade the old path, changing the drive letter.

These missing library errors could gave us a little more information to work with.
Sometimes that dialog window shows what are the missing samples.
But in this case, it just gave me the middle finger.

I spent 2 hours in Hexeditors scanning the Kontakt instances of the project and found nothing.
Where the hell N.I stores this kind of data? Anyone knows?

The batch re-save didn't help either

    Oh, guys, 3 days!!!

I'd load the project, ignore missing samples, then go through the Kontakt instances one by one:

    - Does the patch name help?

    upload_2025-8-25_20-26-25.png

    (Angelharp in this case)

    - Click the wrench symbol for the patch upload_2025-8-25_20-27-26.png

    - Go through these one by one:

    upload_2025-8-25_20-28-12.png

    - Instrument options:

    upload_2025-8-25_20-28-42.png

    ('Angelharp.png', also check 'Info')

    - Mapping Editor for sample names:

    upload_2025-8-25_20-30-52.png

    - Script Editor often has many clues. Check all script tabs there. You can Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C and paste into another program to stop your eyes from hurting.
