Update:
After doing a clean install, setup ran flawlessly. Definitely performing better so far (running demo project). One major improvement is on-the-fly project rate conversion (latest Magix version still required per file/track conversion).

Looking forward to a deep dive this weekend!

Well, from what I've experienced with BorisFX in video fx, this can only go well. They are well known for their video fx. Let's see what happens.

 

Everything will be fine, it's better if they focus only on DAW

They FINALLY fixed the bug in the surround pan window parallel mode. It stopped working properly after v.13. Somebody at BorisFX decided to check out EVERYTHING in the surround pan. A good omen for the future.
It now seems to load more quickly and feels more solid, for some purely intuitive reason. Only drawback: any project done with any version before this v.17 can be loaded but upon saving it will no longer be loadable in earlier versions, if for any reason you need both (I do). You need to make a separate v.17 directory or something for these new versions.
Also somewhat annoying, which began with v.17 in Magix: when it does the automatic scan for plug-ins, it will also follow any link you may have written that allows you to jump from one directory to another for any reason....the jumped-to directory might not contain any plug-ins, maybe just useful data or preset locations. Sequoia tries to add these to the VST list and errors of incompatibility or "not found" pop up regularly. There should be a way of telling the scanner to skip following any .lnk connections. Of course there's a workaround (take out the dot before the lnk) but that is a real drag if you need those links when not using Sequoia...putting it back in and then remembering to take it out before firing up Sequoia. argh.
Else, all preset and customizations from V.15 load OK, allowing you to maintain your own environment (colors, shortcuts, mouse configurations, workspace definition et. al.) from previous work. Still the best!

 

Early days. I am curious about why they switched to FlexASIO which took over. Had to go through any software using ASIO & switching back to original ASIO device driver.

Created a medium size project with 50 audio tracks last night & started doing edits, clip level adjustments & organizing. No issues so far.

Should also mention that this is one of the few DAWs that shows all in/out from the connected ASIO device without using ASIO4All or something similar. So, separating the Master Fader & Monitor Bus is easily done

Moving from Magix to anything can only be a good move.

So it seems that Magix has not been doing a lot of magic lately?
