Hi,
When I installed Kontakt 8 Portable, I kept Kontakt 7 Portable, to make sure that all my old projects would continue working.

Now I want to update Kontakt 8.1 Portable to Kontakt 8.6 Portable (Bob Dule version) - meaning to replace the 8.1 version with the 8.6 version, and not not to keep them both.

Question is - what will happen to my old / previous projects that I used with Kontakt 8.1 Portable, and what about all the settings?
Do I need to take screenshots of my projects' settings from the 8.1 version, and set everything from scratch on the 8.6 version?
(BTW I'm on Windows)

Yes, there are - versions 7.6, 8.1, 8.6...

 

@Bingo There is a PORTABLE-vkDanilov version that works on Windows 7.

 

I can only speak for Reaper with the Danilov portable, but my track presets still look for the old kontakt version.If anyone knows how to stop that I would love to know.

 

Yes, there is also a vkDanilov version, but whether it's the Danilov's or Bob Dule's version - the question is what happens to the settings in older projects, when updating a version (not 7 to 8, but 8.1 to 8.6)

 

In FL Studio, you rename the new version of VST to the same name as the older one and FL Studio opens the new version instead of the old.

Yes, the libraries are opened in the new version in old projects just fine. But Cubase may work differently; I don't have any idea about it. You should try it out.

Do as follows: If you have the file named Kontakt7.vst3 (the older version), move it to the desktop or somewhere else, so you can just copy it back to the original folder, if it doesn't work. Then install the Kontakt 8 and rename the Kontakt8.vst3 file to Kontakt7.vst3. This is just an example; if the file names are different, you have to change them accordingly.
