So I read the rant he posted about this, and it is seemingly all started about a compressor? Compressors are a real clickbait YT video favorite.

How many videos have you seen, where the presenter starts out with "No-one understands compression correctly, so let me tell you my version of it and see if I can explain it correctly". Clicking on one of those videos is the audio version of getting rickrolled.

About mentioning Dan Worrall and this guy in the same post. That's called d*ckriding. Riding on someone else's reputation. And if anyone was going to launch some concerted effort to attack a product and the person behind it for "exposing all these fake plugins", don't you think it would be about an already established tool such as DDMF Plugin Doctor?

Instead of this guy putting effort into making some really good plugins himself, which have become an almost "industry standard" like Fabfilter etc. have; he would rather people pay for him to complain about other plugins? That way he can go buy more analog gear, right?

This is called a "pre-emptive scam", and is very common. Give me your money, and I will tell you those people are all scammers who are out to get your money.

You're wrong about that, though. He's using the views he gets to ask big companies for free gear "for videos"

His interface tests are a load of baloney. Putting some audio to loopback until it starts sounding bad is not proper testing. Proper testing is done using real lab equipment to measure.

"But that isn't real world testing", neither is looping the same audio a hundred times to say Behringer is terrible. Behringer is terrible, but not because it sounds like shit faster than two or three times more expensive interfaces. He's more than willing to wiggle his tail if you give him an overpriced interface.

Just watch Julian Krause's videos if you want proper, unbiased testing with hard data you can compare to other interfaces.

 

So because certain people have large egos here, we can't comment on someone else's overinflated ego? That is total whataboutism. Also this isn't talking ill of some 'random guy on youtube' , it's a specific guy on youtube for a specific reason, that's the complete opposite of random.

 

This guy made a whole video dedicated to a challenge I made in the comments on his 'best DAWs video' and then we got into in the comments of that video(best DAWs for mastering) and the only point he was making that reaper is the best DAW for mastering because he has a very specific workflow in it that suits him and therefore all other DAWs are inferior for mastering. Odd chap, I get a hyper-focused and obsessive autism vibe off of him but admittedly that's just speculating.

In a post criticising people for having a go at AP mastering you finished with the point that anyone having a go at his ego should remember that the same people with large egos exist in this forum. If your point wasn't "...therefore you can't judge him for that", then what was it?

 

That's his M.O., get attention to my channel with massive overreaching claims that'll trigger as many people as possible.

Is it Buggy? Seems to work well and the fact that he can fix anomalies quickly is a great reason to have it, it's useful IMHO

The post you refer to was my opinion on the whole matter, and I further believe that AP took the form of the message knowingly, that it was a pastiche.
"Criticism" you accuse me of is about calling someone crazy, delusional, diagnosing someone's mental health on a forum not expecting any qualification to do so, which is sad and weak.

If you see only one reason why I pointed out the egos of people on this forum then that's your problem.
I see the hypocrisy I pointed out.

Well, its a very small time 'nobody' plugin developer, who first claims he has come up with the greatest thing since sliced bread, and now the tweaker paranoid claims that the entire plugin industry is 'after him', I just can't take anything he says seriously including his 'work'.

If his tools were worth a shit they would speak for themselves, but in reality, nobody cares. Meth is bad kids m'kay.

 

I definitely agree. I've gone through the tools I've purchased and tried over the years and narrowed it down to just a few EQs, Comps, Transient Shapers, etc. that sound good, and just as importantly match my workflow.

I didn't select these based on marketing or the persona trying to sell me the product.

I wish I could go back and "unpurchase" a bunch of shit and instead buy analog gear, a nicer interface, better monitors/headphones, synthesizers. At least many of those retain some value.

But also I find that buying a bunch of unique creative VST instruments and creative FX has definitely been worth it. Much more so than buying 50 analog modeled compressors or EQs.

 

This entire thread was focusing on AP Masterings the man/YT persona, and not the products he's trying to sell me with clickbait YT videos.

Oh also, I don't get why people are so worried about what Michael Jackson did in his private life, its unimportant because he made great music.

As some people mentioned, even though AP seems completely serious, the entire thing may be an elolaborate joke persona specifically trying to trigger people (think YT Political Commentators), to get them to buy a product from you.

But, if its not a joke, I really struggle to understand where AP begins to lack the self awareness to understand that in fact, no, the plugin industry hasn't "coordinated an attack against you" for making YT videos, you just have a personality, ego, and content style that is almost designed to invite trolls.

 

Well his compressor has 2 special curves that sound over the top extreme and can be used for creative compression.

Any time someone else commented that plugins like FF Pro C 2 model a bunch of different compressor curves, AP hastily shot back with "Well they can't do anything like the Black Scholes or chaos compression curves my plugin can do".

Studio Life 101 tested the compressor and it seems a bit buggy as volume jumped all over the place quite a bit when changing certain settings.

The UI is pretty bad, but I'm sure it can be learned pretty quickly.

So if you want to pay $50 for those 2 creative compression modes, I guess its good. Im pretty sure ToneBoosters Compressor v4 is like $30 and that thing is amazing and doesn’t have an egomaniac trying to get you to buy it.

AP coded the plugin himself so good on him for doing that. I'm sure he'll be able to buy more analog gear with the money he makes off clickbait sensationalism YouTube videos and his industry game changing plugins.

 

His own YouTube channel built on low effort "content" that amounts to hasty overgeneralizations and grifting has become a coordinated attack against himself.
