I use Stix v1.6.2 R2R. It is crashing Ableton in Windows 11 when I try to export a pattern as MIDI to Ableton. According to its manual (p26) to export a pattern we should to press the dn’d icon by the Song Setting and drag it to the track. But it is crashing when I do that. Any idea what’s wrong? I don’t want to record a track from Stix’s MIDI OUT what is possible in this plugin. I can also export a .midstx file but it is not recognisable by Ableton even after changing its extension to .mid.

 

I don't have Ableton installed, but the drag & drop works ok for me in FL Studio, Studio One & Reaper.
The fact that Ableton is not recognizing.mid files is weird.
I can drag the pattens out and they always have the name midifile.mid, but I can find no .midstx files... how do you export that?
I DO see how to export a .stx, but it is not a midi file.

Export is in Settings/MIDI at the top bar, the clig wheel.
I installed v1.6.1 R2R and clicking the icon is not crashing Ableton but I cannot drop to the track, the icon of No Entry is shown.
I can import and drag and drop midi files usually. But there is a glitch in Ableton/Xils Stix.

I will try a legit demo of Stix tomorrow.

 

When the VST itself is the one creating the "*.mid" file (note: NOT an Ableton Clip), the vst is the one rendering it to memory 'somewhere' and then ableton is referencing that location until you save it project and bring it 'in house.' All that to say... take a look at where these files are being generated to disk (presumably somewhere in User>docs or AppData>Roaming or maybe ProgramData. Its possible the folder was never written on install and there is no creation check on export if it isnt already their or maybe the file path is too long?

 

From the Manual Page 26: Drag 'n drop Pattern to DAW: To drag 'n drop StiX patterns directly to your DAW, click on the Dn'D 'file' icon located at the top right of the pattern block, right of the song settings button.

I tested the Stix in Ableton Live Lite v12.2.1_64 and the drag-and-drop function doesn't work.
This is a Stix bug; please try to report the issue to the manufacturer, Xils - Stix.

I tested the Stix in Studio One, and the drag-and-drop function works perfectly (see attached image).

How do you create .mid file? By clicking dn’d icon (v1.6.1 only, 1.6.2 crashes AL). Exporting from Settings/MIDI… creates .midstx file.

 

i use the " XILS-lab - StiX v1.6.2 VST3 - Windows - Team R2R " ( XILS-lab.StiX.v1.6.2 ) !
I click on the " Drag 'n drop " button!

Ableton doesn't crash, but it just doesn't export it to the DAW. The MIDI file is in the folder specified in the previous post.
Try a new project in Ableton without the FX VST.
