What you (and many others) do not seem to be able to grasp is - once you use the IK's ("information kiosks" -- the "AI" you speak of doesn't exist) it's no longer your ideas at work. Which is why there is the plethora of complete crap out there these days being called music...

Again, it might be fun, but the ideas are no longer your own... As long as you realize that fact it's all good...

 

Well, duh, that was a typo... OpenAIs valuations vary from $300-500 trillion dollars (depending if you ask OpenAI themselves or not), and they turn in $5bn in revenue, yet after capital expenses, they're operating at loss. What $500tn company is yet to bring in profit?

At this point they're completely at mercy of their investors who still pour in money (Softbank mostly), and they expect to see profit, billions in profit. It ain't happening without some serious adjustments, and looks like that the introduction of GPT5 just now is that. So far it looks like way worse service, and way expensive prices.

How are they not my ideas? is it because i didn't use classic ways of creating them then they arent mine.

for my guitar example in my previous post. Lets say I needed that funk guitar line for my song where i upload my song and get a new guitar line to fit. How is that not the same as me digging through a sample pack of funk guitars and finding one that fits in key and time? Do i need to write the midi and use a kontakt bank? But then thats not my guitar tracked its a sample based instument so then its not mine again. How about I ask a friend to play a funk guitar line over my song, wait thats his idea now that i approved and guided. Maybe i need to learn how to play funk guitar. Look on forums to find out what pedals and amps were used to get that funk sound. Wait thats not my idea again Im taking someone elses approach to get a funk sound.

Personally I think staying in the flow state when creating is fun! If i can get to what i want with the path of least resistance then I will use a tool to help stay in that creative flow state. Ive found so many uses for staying in a flow state and getting my ideas down using these AI tools. Especially when im guiding them with my music, my art, my prompts. Just because I might not be tacticly using the old way of creating for some elements doesnt take away from me guiding the art to where im satisfied with it.

It's all somewhat subjective, but yes, IMO, sample packs are no different than the idiot kiosks (aka "AI"). I tend to not use sample packs (other than one-shots) or "presets" at all, even when doing EDM, because I find one can get so immersed in the "sample experience" that real creativity goes right out the window. Real creativity being that which comes solely from your essence and no where else... Again it's just my opinion of the process - nothing more.
