SSL has these crazy deals from time to time. I get them regulary via my e-mail.

This is all just marketing. The market is saturated, and they're trying to convince you that you'll save a lot of money.
SSL has these offers almost every month.

The net profit is:
1 x $49 = $49
10 x $49 = $490
100 x $49 = $4900
1000 x $49 = $49000

 

Just because it's more cheap doesn't mean that it's worth it.

 

Those SSL plugins do look nice, but I'm still waiting for them to make something that hasn't been done to death already.

I thought that maybe since they own it, they would just make some kind of Neutron with every EQ and comp ever made for SSL consoles, but seems that they prefer to keep milking it by releasing a billion channel strips.

For a start, a plug-in effect should not cost $800.

I could understand this kind of price if we were dealing with some hardware unit but this is not the case here.

 

As you can see, nobody wants to spend $800 and they now have to radically reduce the selling price in order to be able to generate any revenue at all.

 

SSL does these kinds of bundle sales pretty frequently.

You can regularly find the the Native Channel Strip 2 and Bus Compressor 2 bundle for $49. For that price it is absolutely worth it in my opinion, but you really dont need all of the different SSL channel strips.

The Multiband SSL bus comp is cool, but I dont think its going to be much of an improvement over the likes of Lindell MBC or Audiority Poly Comp.

The Reverb is pretty sweet tho. Allows you to combine 2 different types of reverb with a good amount of control.

I own a bunch of the SSL series, but I find quite a few of them to be quite limited or overall pretty mid.

Edit: Also, their pricing is straight up dumb. Its only correctly priced when its on something like a 93% off sale.

 

Why are you telling us about the sale two days after it's ended? Seems like a weird way to make yourself feel special cause you got something others can't have.

 

If you miss a sale by a few days (within reason) and still have a link or screenshot to it, and you email them they will give you the same deal pricing. You both know they will run the sale again soon enough anyway. So ask them if they want to wait to get your money, and they will give you a promo code for the same deal. They know very well you may change your mind or even buy something else in the meantime. It costs them literally $0 to hook you up and it is like free money to them.
