It's not their plugin manager that causes it by being there. If you firewall it in correctly, it doesn't do anything. If you let it out to connect and phone home, it will deauthorize stuff for sure.

Acustica is full of shit when they talk of 'tracking warez users etc and taking actionable steps on the software' As the laws currently stand (and have not been tested otherwise) a company disabling their software on a customers machine would be akin to breaking into someones house and stealing something of realized value. The closest thing resembling that that *is* legal is also on the corporate front. eg, your company has a license from SoftCorp to run BizSft on 30 machines. SoftCorp detects you're actually running on 60, 30 legit 30 pirated. Because your company has a formal license with SoftCorp, SC has a means to act and seek remedy but only as defined within the contract. Which is at heart of why Acustica is full of shit and to the larger point why no company has yet been so stupid as attempt access to unauthorized machines.

A companies remedy against an individual is through the civil courts.

A contract requires consideration to be valid (well, and the terms themselves not violating the law or are otherwise enforceable) You cannot enter into a contract with the dev when you pirate software. So you cannot consent to their entry of your system. But you own a legit too? Even if in the EULA there exists language permitting entrance into a system and that that permission would give a dev rights extending beyond the specific software purchased that is such a ridiculous overreach that even Microsoft (who has had these clauses for over a decade now in the Windows EULA) isn't stupid enough to open the absolute legal shitstorm this would bring for any company who tried.

Like @clone notes, calling out is a different matter (they never enter your system, the plugin just doesnt get the happy response it wanted) and even then the 'worst' that can happen is the software deauthorizes... which is also wholly erased by removing the files, returning state to 0.

I once installed something from a dubious source, but it didn't contain what it said it would, but a polyphonic virus that then devoured the files. However, I had a full backup of the C:/ hard drive and was able to restore my system using an emergency disk. From that, I learned never to download from dubious sources again.

I try to get Team R2R or Team V.R if possible. MORIA is also good. With other teams, I'm skeptical about whether they're good at their jobs.
There are no viruses on official websites like our sister site because a) the moderators pay attention to it and monitor it, and b) because the uploaders would ruin their business model. They only earn money

if a lot of people download their stuff and then get paid by the file sharer. Anyone who cheats people gets kicked out. You can report errors to moderators, and they'll check them. If there are viruses, etc., the user will be blocked or warned. Furthermore, cracking teams have a reputation to lose when they plant viruses and Trojans on people.

Viruses and Trojans can be acquired, especially when you surf porn sites, click on everything, and open email attachments. Make a full backup of your C:/ drive to a second hard drive and always back up your important files in case they become infected. Criminals only want your money or to cause confusion and chaos.

    I use this: AdwCleaner 2025 - Free Adware Cleaner & Removal Tool --> https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner

Thanks so much Man! That's a really detailed and logical explanation which makes sense
So to summarize, worst that can happen is that Flagged software being Deauthorized - which is fine and fair (to be honest)
And it won't affect my other softwares/plugins
For Safety net, I still use Firewall control ( I don't know how much that helps )
I will keep using Legit + Warez both and focus on Music :D

Hi sir, so I also prefer R2R and VR mainly - they are the best! Tho I do others as well from sister website

Thanks for the suggestion :) Luckily, I also do SSD backup of my windows and have Malwarebytes (I got its premium plan very cheap in offer).
So I guess then my PC is setup good enough - at par with Most experienced members here, so I can stop worrying :D

I mean Im not paranoid - but just the thought of losing all Data/music library etc or iLok getting locked just pesters me - because starting from Scratch will be hell of a pain and almost impossible

Great, I'm glad you found an intelligent solution. Unfortunately, you always have to plan for the worst and be prepared. Viruses, power outages, hard drive crashes, floods, and much more! It takes a lot of time and sometimes a lot of money to back up your information, software, pictures, videos, etc.

But when the worst comes to the worst, you'll be glad and happy to have taken precautions. I have Blu-rays, DVDs, CDs, USB sticks, and external hard drives (HDD and SSD) for data storage. I even bought a document storage box (fireproof and waterproof, suitable for A5 paper) to secure important items in case of a fire.

To be clear I did fuzz over it a bit, so don't take that explanation as gospel, but its good enough (though I should have said 'you lost your iphone, you track it to a house, you walk in and look for it. Maybe its there, maybe it isnt, maybe you've just stolen the residents iphone, either way youve just commited at least one crime', thats a bit better example).

But yes, Deauthorization is the worst. It's the strongest measure they can implement that doesn't involve reaching out/in to your machine. The mechanics are already within the software.

An active firewall is just prudent anyway. You can raise its spirits by opening r2r keygens without disabling realtime... remind it of the good ole days when non-user executed threats still made it past a fortified browser.

100% agreed ! So I do SSD backup - but also have cloud space of 1tb but I never used it :D
That's cuz the speed is so slow, there is no point
So, in future I will look at backup of backup (as they say rule of 3 - one original + 2 backups)
That Storage box looks crazyy tough LOL

For Keygen what do you mean? I disable my "Malwarebytes + windows anti virus" - when I open Keygen since they wont allow me - then after using I Enable everything
That's the correct way right ?

MEGA has free, secure storage and is also pretty fast! ---> https://mega.io

MEGA* (short for Mega Encrypted Global Access) is a cloud storage service run by the New Zealand company Mega Limited. The service was founded by German-Finnish internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom. That's why MEGA is considered the successor to the notorious file-sharing platform Megaupload.

Megaupload made Dotcom a multimillionaire - but was shut down in 2012 at the FBI's request. The US Department of Justice claimed that Megaupload's business model was based on intentional copyright infringement. Since then, Dotcom, who lives in New Zealand, has been fighting extradition to the US.

Instead of backing down after Megaupload's closure, Dotcom went a step further: In 2013, he launched MEGA, a cloud storage service with the tagline "the privacy company".

What makes MEGA special is its end-to-end encryption. Only users have access to and can view the data stored on the platform. This not only guarantees complete privacy compared to other cloud storage services but also helps MEGA avoid the US laws that led to Megaupload's downfall. After all, if MEGA doesn't know what content is being stored, it can't be held responsible for possible legal violations.

Today, with over 300 million registered users, MEGA is one of the most popular cloud storage services worldwide. We've taken a closer look at the platform to see how it stacks up against the competition.
