In 1920 ? After a century of non regulated post industrial waste ?
Workers were coughing chunks of solidified lungs because of factories spilling toxic air directly into their neighborhoods, and toxic waste straight in the water supply. Asbestos everywhere. No proper knowledge of carcinogens.

Our society is fucked up today, but it was fucked up a hundred years ago as well.

So, I meant before industrialization. When did it begin, 1815 or 1835 ? Thanks for your comment about the negative consequences of industrialization. It's nice that someone still knows how hard it was back then and what it's really like today.

I mean, a world before industrialization—wasn't that 250 years ago?
When people still lived in small villages and towns, raising their livestock and growing crops.

Cheers for the detailed reply, I don't disagree about being bombarded with toxic particles now, it must be having a huge effect on us.

I've stopped sugar before, didn't make much difference, but I've still lowered intake just in case. No arguments against a more handmade and natural diet from me, i'm generally trying get my 'factory food' lower all the time. I agree my previous issues might well have been related to my stomach and intestines.

But I don't believe a restrictive diet helped me, just made me unhappy and paranoid. I've done intermittent fasting and whole days of fasting before, great for losing weight quickly but aggressive weight control through fasting was not maintainable. And dates and raisins give me migraines (probably due to high tyramine) :D

I can't be saved :D And i don't need saving, as I've emphasised, I'm much more balanced mentally now and body has calmed down as well.

I'm not sure about second half of your reply, especially concerning Chinese medicine. Being ancient/old doesn't make something automatically good?

Yes some herbs have genuine healing properties. Yes a heathy balanced diet is good for you. Yes a proper spiritual connection to nature is very important. Yes Tai Chi, meditation and Buddhism are all powerful ways to help mind and body.

But i also feel many ancient medicines are powerful placebo's because they fail terribly under laboratory testing, and frankly if they worked western corporations would have monetised them. Or worse, it's just bullshit to make money.

But maybe that doesn't matter, Placebo's are a growing area of positive debate. The positive impact of my mental state almost supports their power - with non life threatening ailments, if you really believe its going to improve, it might...

So again, thank you! I very much agree with your first points, but ill pass on the woo woo medicine :)

I went through this process! well, still going through it. I found i have a couple genetic mutations, one called COMT, and one called MTHFR. Finding that out explained a lot, and have since been able to work on a treatment plan that is actually working for me.

Yes, I'd rather skip back in time to no pollution and certain societal cohesion for sure.

But before you all start that, how's that life expectancy business happened, you know, before modern medicine and before vaccinations? You tell me.

Again, for fuck's sake, do not ask and do not receive medical advice from random people on random internet forums. I'm not saying there might not be handy advice in there. But even in this small thread we have already so much conflicting information. Are you really going to do a deep dive into the literature and actual statistics? No? Then please do not.

Xupito is healthy and good things.
I find it quite interesting what ideas and illnesses other people have. I think the bans on thinking and suppression of information in the internet world are very bad. If someone says to go to the gas station and drink a liter of gas, you don't do it. Everyone is responsible for their own actions and thoughts anyway.

There's no ban on information... yet. All of the papers of actual studies are readable. And yes, we're all responsible of our own doings, learn about shit from reproducable things (i.e. science), and not from famous people. That simple. If you can't read scientific papers, then learn the language and it'll make sense.

Again, I try not to push my things on people, but I do find some things outside "western medicine" work for me. Things not proven by double/trible blind tests. Things like valerian root which I'd much rather have to help me calm down and sleep in the nights. Now, herbal remedies might not be as pleasant just because they're natural. But try them, and try also to see how your liver deals with those things, really. They might work (as they do for me), and they also might be damaging for you (as they are for me). Win some lose some it's all the same to me.

In short: whatever you do, get some blood tests taken, do not randomly take anything, be it medicine or be it herbal remedies.

Hello @Will Kweks, everything you say sounds very sensible and well-thought-out. I always have the saying "The dose makes the poison." We've come a long way medically, and our average age has increased significantly thanks to medicine and hygiene.

I drink green tea instead of caffeinated coffee, and when I get nervous, I exercise or do Tai Chi. But it doesn't always help; there are days like that and then I feel better again. I also have sage tea for my throat. I eat a lot of nuts for my brain and cholesterol levels. Yes, the blood tests are great. In my opinion, we all went to school and learned to read.

If a professor explains difficult things simply on YouTube, it helps many people. We'll see how AI will help us in the future. It's nice that we all talk to each other, even if we don't agree, but it's better to have many opinions than to all have the same opinion, because to err is human.

If i remember correctly i´ve never taken any advice from the forums, except when the dude told me back when i was naive that i should get much better power supply for the pc and that numbers means sh**

Ok, but anyhow, it is hard to really be subjective.

My first encounter with mineral defifiency was with Vitamin D3, i got myself some Nordic stuff and Omega3´s and was taking like 2000UI to get myself better, and than i found a guy talking about how his father in like 80s got proscribed Vitamin D3 because he was getting really bad really fast, so he started upping the dose for his pops from 2000 he ended up giving him 80000UI and he said his father back to life again..and quickly too.

Now weather that is just the gut problem and the digestion was using like 10% of that doze, i dont know.

Me being borderline ocd, i upped it to 40-60000UI and was really feeling great, sometimes if i tried 80000 my heart would kinda feel wierd and my head would feel wierd, but my skin was looking really good, any eyes and overall i felt great, but the effect was only like that for a week or two, and it seems that body got what it needed and after that i could not take more than 10000 or 20000UI without feeling dizzy. So with anything i will say, going step by step and having clean routine while trying minerals and vitamins is the key, some effects are quite noticable.

Ashwagandha for exsample, first 2-3 that i took(dont remember the mg doze tho) were popping, i felt great, but after that i felt nothing for the 2-3 packages.

B12, syntetic or natural, the same thing, under the tounge, first week a lot of changes, later on, nothing, magnesium was not really working for me at all.

Bone broth, and i mean that thick jelly broth was crazy, i would eat it with some meat and after like 5 minutes i would smile and be happy for no reason, that was the craziest thing i expirienced while recovering from complete burnout, also sourdough bread was really interesting food, kefir not so much.

Sometimes we feel wierd and we...open up youtube while we would be better being in the park or somewhere under the tree, body gives us these nudges, but after some time we replaced all of that with... i dont know..Breaking Bad and Massive with Valhalla reverb and wondering why we are ucked up..

Like... go outside and pet the cat. (taking to myself)

p.s. when i felt the lowest of lows, i did blood test... d3, b12, testosterone and all that, i would not try out wild dosages otherwise!

The Dunning-Kruger Effect is a cognitive bias that causes individuals to massively overestimate their own abilities in a particular area.

Even after their third car accident within a month—without any outside influence—they believe they are above-average drivers. Instead of blaming themselves, they blame it on something like a mechanical defect in the car or the glare from the sun.

Not discussing real vitamin deficiencies that need specific help, but it seems the tide is turning against ridiculously high doses of vitamins. A load of big long term studies have come in and the people who took high doses of vitamins for years actually had higher occurrences of certain cancers. This side effect has appeared across more than one study, and there's solid scientific theories why. There's some good investigative articles exploring how the vitamin industry for years has spend a lot of money promoting the idea of massive doses, and the shady characters involved in it.
