I started a game that I've had for years but never really gave it a good go: Brütal Legend. You all know goddamn well why now.

    Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew

it's much better than I expected, despite looking cartoony it's an incredible tactical strategy game, and with undead pirates, shiver me timbers!

SWAT3 Tactical Game of the Year (Circa 1999-2000?)

A police-centered strategic/tactical game for the PC. I ripped the CD to SDD.

My brother found and passed this off to me this year. I found a way to get it working and am hooked! Very good for a 25 year old game. Genius actually!

Minimum System Requirements: (For a good laugh)

    Win 95/98/Win Me/Win 2000

    Pentium II 266MHz

    64Mb RAM

    550Mb HD space (1.1gb install)

800x600 SVGA high color display (16 bit)

    8mb video card

    DirectX8a (Included on CD)

@Nawhak I was never a big fan of AoE II, really liked AoE III and from recent remasters, Age of Mythology Retold is pretty well done in my taste

Really great game created by Mimimi Games german developer that sadly closed in 2023 "due to the rising costs of development and not enough revenue being generated". They are also creators of other great games in the "real time strategy" genre, in particular Desperados III and Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, both higly recommended.

Wow, that's really old school! Also, most games at that time were still made in MSDOS (compatibility mode restart)

Yup. Nothing like booting to a floppy disk.
I remember doing that for a racing game (just white-dot roadway like driving at night) with REAL floppy "floppies" on my father's computer (the kind or computer I have no idea).
Then a bit later he had a better computer and it used hard "floppies".,
We played SWOTL (Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe).
Then I recall playing Multiplayer Battletech - Solaris on AOL.
That must have been right at 1996, because I recall I then got into computers myself in 1997.
Pentium 100 MHz. Booting into RAMdisk to play Heretic on modem.
I've forgotten all the DOS tricks now, sadly.
