Although they have many creative uses, sometimes no amount of sidechain compression, multiband compression, gating, dynamic EQ, no gullfossing or soothing can save the mix. If piling them up further just makes the mix sound worse there's no way out but to address the root of the problem: a sub-optimal arrangement/orchestration and/or recording thereof.

Our hunter-gatherer bodies and minds had no time to adapt to the wildly different environment in which we live in now. To have a chance of surviving we absolutely must take care of a basic arrangement: get enough sleep, eat healthy unprocessed food, be physically active and socialise with the people we like. If we don't have that sorted out we are just piling up plugins, with predictable result.

BfArM warns against the use of kratom Number 09/25 dated July 1, 2025

The BfArM is in close contact with the state authorities responsible for monitoring pharmaceutical trade in Germany. The state authorities decide on the classification of individual products as medicinal products requiring marketing authorization. If a state authority classifies a product as a medicinal product requiring marketing authorization, it may no longer be placed on the market without marketing authorization. The basis for such a classification can also be the advertising of a product as a means of treating diseases.

The BfArM can only decide on the classification of a product as a medicinal product if a state authority applies to the BfArM for a decision on the requirement to authorize the product as a medicinal product in accordance with Section 21 Paragraph 4 of the German Medicines Act (Arzneimittelgesetz). To the knowledge of the BfArM, individual state authorities have already implemented independent measures with regard to patient safety or are planning further measures.

No it is NOT fine to disagree with facts.
You say you "once learned" that 85% of ilnesses are psychosomatic.
Then you contradict that by saying that it could be as low as 75%.
I call bullshit on that and accuse you of spreading DANGEROUS disinformation.

You want to hand out bad advice on plugins? Fine.
You want to give out bad advise on medical issues? NOT FINE.

Don't come at me with your finger raised and don't overdramatize things unnecessarily. Your language is inappropriate and not civil! Sorry, I was probably misinformed back then. I'm also subject to misinformation. Let me correct that:
The statement that 75% of all illnesses are psychosomatic (i.e., caused by psychological factors or significantly influenced by the psyche) is not tenable according to the current state of science and statistics. Reputable sources such as professional associations and scientific studies cite significantly lower figures.

Mental illnesses affect approximately 27–31% of adults in Germany annually. This includes diagnoses such as depression, anxiety disorders, or addiction – but not all illnesses with possible psychosomatic components.

The one-year prevalence of mental illnesses worldwide is also around 20–25%.

The statement that "75–80% of all illnesses are psychosomatic" is occasionally found in popular science or alternative medicine statements, but is not supported by medical associations or epidemiological studies. There is no reliable basis for this high figure in primary scientific sources.
Psychosomatic influences—that is, interactions between the body and mind—do indeed play a role in many illnesses (e.g., stress in cardiovascular diseases or immunological problems). However, this does not mean that these illnesses are exclusively caused by psychological factors or are classified as so-called psychosomatic disorders.

What is often confused is that approximately 75% of all mental disorders begin before the age of 25—but this does not apply to all illnesses or their psychosomatic origins.

    In summary:
Psychologically or psychosomatically induced illnesses are common, but by no means account for 75% of all illnesses. This figure refers neither to illnesses in general nor to psychosomatic disorders in the narrower sense. If it does, then the 75 percent figure refers to the early onset of mental disorders, not to their quantitative contribution to all illnesses.
What you're saying is very unkind and nasty. It's simply a lie!

Mate (Ilex paraguariensis) use is thought to be the cause of the abnormally high rate of mouth cancer occurring in some regions of south-america.

Mate teaCancer risk from mate tea? What you should know
Thirty years ago, the news that mate tea increased the risk of cancer made headlines. What's the current situation? Should you even drink mate tea?

I enjoy drinking mate tea, made from dried leaves of the mate plant (sometimes stems are also used). The mate plant ( Ilex paraguariensis ) belongs to the holly genus of the holly family. It thrives in South America, where it grows wild or cultivated. One of its relatives, the holly ( Ilex aquifolium ), also grows in our forests. It is sometimes called the German mate plant. However, today it plays a lesser role as a medicinal and recreational plant.

The situation is different with the mate bush. It enjoys great popularity in South America and is growing in popularity here, and you're probably familiar with lemonades made from mate tea. Or perhaps you've seen the images on television of soccer players drinking mate before stepping onto the pitch. They rely on the stimulating effect provided by the beverage's caffeine content.
The monographs of Commission E and HMPC also advocate the use of mate tea for mental and physical exhaustion. Numerous studies from recent years have also documented its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving properties. A positive effect on elevated blood lipid levels is also being discussed [ 1 ].

Cancer risk and mate tea: a look at the world of studies
About 30 years ago, the first publications warned of a possible connection between mate consumption and an increased incidence of cancer, particularly of the oral cavity, pharynx, and esophagus. The exact connection could not be determined at the time [ 2 ]. As a result, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified mate beverages as "probably carcinogenic" starting around 1991.
Over the years, the theory that the observed increased cancer risk was not related to the plant and its constituents, but rather to the temperature of the beverage became more established [ 3 ]. Mate tea is traditionally drunk with a metal straw, the so-called bombilla. At the bottom of this straw is a sieve that is immersed in the mate tea prepared from hot water. When the bombilla is used as a straw, the sieve prevents the mate leaves from being absorbed.
The bombilla is practical, but using it also has a disadvantage: When drinking tea from a cup as usual, various sensations warn you when the tea is too hot. We sense the temperature of the cup with our hands and feel the heat of the beverage with our lips. This way, we are warned when the tea is still too hot to drink. These warning signals are missing when drinking mate tea through the bombilla. You only notice the heat once the hot beverage has been sucked into your mouth with the metal straw.

The heat of tea can damage the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat, and regular exposure to intense heat can lead to an increased risk of cancer. Several studies indicate that this cancer risk is likely particularly important in people who also regularly consume carcinogenic stimulants such as tobacco or alcohol [ 3 ].
A study published in 2019 suggested that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) could also play a role in the increased cancer risk associated with mate tea. These compounds are primarily found in tea preparations for which the mate leaves are smoked or roasted after harvest [ 4 ]. Smoking the tea leaves also poses the risk that so-called carcinogenic anthraquinones could enter the mate tea. Anthraquinones are produced during the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels such as coal.
The amount of mate tea consumed may also play a role, as South American studies suggest. These studies showed an increased risk of cancer, especially with regular excessive consumption (more than one liter of mate tea daily) [ 3 ].

How to make mate enjoyment safer
Four factors appear to play a role in the association with an increased cancer risk observed in studies:

    • excessive consumption of the drink
    • too hot drinking pleasure
    • the occurrence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and/or anthraquinones due to smoking of the tea leaves
    • the consumption of tobacco and/or alcohol.
From these factors, I have derived the following rules for enjoying mate:

    • I drink no more than 500 ml of mate tea per day and make sure to take regular breaks from consuming mate. After a month of daily mate consumption, I abstain for two weeks.
    • To avoid scalding myself while drinking the tea, I dip the tip of my little finger into the mate tea before taking the first sip to check whether it's cooled sufficiently. Only when it's no longer too hot do I drink it with the bombilla.
    • To reduce the risk of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons or anthraquinones, I do not use roasted or smoked mate tea leaves, but instead use so-called "green mate," whose leaves have not been treated with smoke or heat. I also only buy organic mate tea to minimize the repeatedly tested pesticide contamination [ 5 ].
    And finally …
Incidentally, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) no longer warns against the consumption of mate tea, but generally warns against drinking beverages that are too hot (over 65 degrees Celsius). As described above, these can lead to chronic irritation of the mucous membranes, which could be a breeding ground for cancer. Scalding from the hot liquid is probably the real problem in the observed link between mate consumption and an increased risk of cancer—along with tobacco and alcohol consumption.
And if you want to try mate tea, it's best to go for organic "green mate."

Oh, I know that feeling, not being able to rest, all nerves firing at once... Yes absolutely modern medication is an awesome gift. Without it I would have burnt out a long time ago. And same here, it's a journey to find the right stuff.
@OP: First of all: Second opinion, BUT: a lot of people just don't tell their doctors about the problems. Somehow they don't want to disappoint them? So if you haven't already, tell him that it doesn't work for you, that he has to find another solution. There are a lot of meds for the same problem plus theres always the possibility to get something off label. Meaning that med was meant for something different, but seems to fix your problem.
That stuff is a lot of try and error and usually doctors enjoy that kind of 'research'. It's something different than their daily routine and when they find something, it makes them more experienced and better at their job. If your doctor is like 'that's all there is, I have no other idea' you can completely forget about him. Go find some other doctor. There are several dozens of possibilities, no matter what it is.

kratom has legit saved a couple friends lives, its also ruined some others. I love it, but use it with extreme discipline, as i was abusing it for a time and it was affecting me negatively. I now limit to once a day, in the evening with the smallest possible dose. If you do decide to pursue, avoid extracts, shots, gummies, or synthetic, and only use the raw powder or tea. Mods, if you need to delete this go ahead, but Kratom is a legal herb in most places. Just putting it out there, so you guys don't think im trying to peddle street drugs haha.

    Let's be CLEAR.
I did NOT say that you DID give out bad advice on plugins.
I think most of your advice is good and I mostly agree where opinion is significant.
I was using that for contrast.

If you (or ANYONE) gives out bad advice on plugins, it is not that harmful and therefore, it is "fine".
If you (or ANYONE) gives out bad advice on medical issues, it may be VERY harmful, and therefore it is NOT "fine".

My point is that we should all be VERY HUMBLE and CAREFUL when discussing medical issues.
Yes it may limit what information we attempt to pass on, but ... FIRST, DO NO HARM.

If you can think yourself out of an illness, you where not ill.
Mental illness is as real as a broken Leg, sometimes with similar effects

    @Kate Middleton
    Medication isn't bad, per se!
Nothing to worry about, AT ALL!
Just relax and take it day by day, with the help of a good doctor/therapist

If you broaden your understanding of what stress actually is, then yeah. stress is the cause of probably all illness. not even just 85%... all stress is interpreted in the same manner after a certain point by the human body. stress the likes of which you are talking about emotional/endocrine is mostly going to be neuroimmune/ HPA axis mediated initially, but as you get older and you pack on other forms of "stress"metabolic, cardiovascular, the unresolved neuroimmune and HPA axis related stress you contracted in your 20ies, the things that usually deal with those kind of insults begin to fail via their normal resolution pathways and essentially become maladaptive and malignant, and that is when you become a risk factor for diseases etc. the end game of which is usually cancer

There's definitely tonnes of science for immune disease crosstalk. if you mean there is no science that outright says that "stress causes disease"probably not, but that would be an issue with your understanding of what stress is as far as the human body is concerned. not the science itself

You are being a bit too vague. what kind of meds? for what condition? meds can be dangerous because they basically chase one endpoint and avoid all the noise surrounding it. there's no such thing as clean drugs, and chemists are not god. they cannot cleanly and specifically target one receptor, pathway, enzymatic reaction and not perturb other things along their way e.g GLP-1 agonists do not activate GLP-1 and do nothing else, SSRI's do not just target 5HT receptors and nothing else, anti-histamines do not downregulate mast cells and histamine and nothing else, antibiotics do not just target "bad bacteria"and nothing else. that might be how it is communicated, but it's not the reality

Interesting although overlong. Anyway promoting caffeine beverages has "having no side effect" is a bit too much. A cardiologist could tell you things about this. Plus, caffeine is physically addictive. And the author of the link you posted makes 2 weeks breaks every month in his mate use. Why would someone do this if there's "no side effects"? Caffeine is more socially accepted in most places, that's all.
I think it would be better if you read on a topic and forge an opinion instead of posting translations of the first source popping in your search engine. And I certainly wont trust state/big pharma propaganda about herbal medicine, psychoactive or not. I, and several people here, have first hand experience and I researched this product extensively.
The product is only one term of an equation. Another is the user and a third is the context. Nothing is totally safe, including water, nothing is totally bad, including heroin. Although I'm not sure that remains true about modern pharmaceuticals, either recognized as medication or sold as recreational designer drugs.
Do you know why kratom was illegal in Thailand from 1943 to the 2000s ? Because its availability was harmful to state-controlled opium trade. And I doubt that opium addict trying to quit would have had the same benefit from mate or green tea.
Keep this perspective in mind when you talk about drugs. It's a game of power and money. War on drugs isnt a failure, it is successful in maintaining artificial huge profit margin, with social control and geopolitical leverage benefits. It is a total win for the system.
The problem is not the product, capitalism and power struggles are. Poppy was grown in India for centuries and used without any real public health problem. Then, the British occupied India and sold opium in China (to compensate for tea importation) where it instantly caused major disasters.

Sorry to contribute in derailing the thread.

I feel ya. A couple years ago, I was severely depressed - not due to my diet nor any organic deficiency in my brain, but to a combination of conditions in my life. It got so bad that I caved-in and sought to get on an antidepressant medication. I was on it for almost a month before I realized three things that moved me to quit it:

1: The stuff made me feel as though a bite had been taken out of my soul. It depleted my creativity and my libido (which are inter-related).
2: The psychiatrist was a class-A jerk, such that I chose not to engage with him any longer because it fed my despondency.
3: Another side effect was a nerve-calming effect similar to that of affection and physical intimacy, without which I was at the time. Thus, I realized, the scenario was that because I was without anyone lovin' on me, I had to take a stupid pill. The absurdity of that was the clincher.

My non-professional advice: consult other doctors, look into whether your condition might be exacerbated by certain foods or substances (and quit ingesting those), and determine whether your state of mind might be due to certain conditions in your life.

First of all, what I post here and which sources I cite are up to me. Please don't try to tell me how I should live and what is right or wrong. Please refrain from being a pedantic know-it-all towards your fellow human beings. How do you know how I research? You're working with assumptions and insinuations. Secondly, I only wanted to refute your argument that mate causes cancer. I then posted the proof, citing sources from a reliable, credible source.

The flip side of the coin. "The pharmaceutical industry only makes money from them when they're sick."

The power of the pharmaceutical industry is often underestimated; it's all a huge business at the expense of the patient.
Furthermore, 400,000 people die every year in the EU due to over- or under-dosing of medication.

Old healing knowledge is increasingly disappearing from the internet.
Many doctors prescribe medication too hastily, and too many surgeries are performed.
The system is sick and flawed. Buy old books on naturopathy, etc., or research alternative healing methods online.

Prevention is better than cure. Don't believe much, be critical, and think for yourself.
