You know what you can do with your samples,

We live in a meaningless world. A world where nothing has a meaning. The samples are also taken from this meaningless world, and putting them together will create something meaningless.

People would sample real drums in electronic music; because it's one of the hardest instrument/parts to create realistically, The relatively rigid quantization in early drum machines made it even more obvious it was not a real drummer. Even with all the modern tools available, the only ones that have a chance of fooling someone they are not done with a computer are still sample based.

A better rule of thumb might be not sampling directly from other peoples tracks/songs. Do whatever you want, as far as I am concerned. I'm talking about getting caught. If you think Pharrell will be the only one to get stuck paying for this kind of thing, AI is only going to get better at finding stuff for bloodsuckers with dead relatives and lawyers.

funny thing is you agree with him.

Why do so many people on this forum say you need to make music this way or that? This is cheating that is cheating. Using plugins is cheating, using midi is cheating blah blah blah.

There is so much grey area to life and humans have a hard time seeing it. Or just being open to input from others that there are many ways to skin a cat.

Someone else's opinion isn't a threat to your identity, its a perspective that they have gained on their path and entry point to life, art, creation. So much nuance to someones journey.

As for diplo. Hes doing something right. Hes definitely not on a forum discussing how to make music the "right way"

were all in music making it for why we make it. The narcism of small differences. Were out for ourselves but in it together.

This is why I have said I think using AI for stuff is roughly the same as using samples. It's audio content you did not make. Why is downloading samples now "acceptable" and AI sample sources are not. It's the same argument people make that crate digging from vinyl is ok, but don't dare buy a sample pack and use something like that. People making that argument are splitting hairs about where stuff they did not even make comes from.

It's all the same thing. It does not take any more skill or gear to go on a computer and ask some website to make you a loop of something, then it is to go on a website and click "download". How are we going to know that these "Sample packs". are not going to include samples made with AI anyway? These "sample makers" already lie about what they use all the time. " 808 sample pack from real 808?" from someone who has never even seen one in real life.

Even credits on real "major label records" can be bullshit. There was a video of some younger rapper's "making of the track" video, and I think it was for Sony. He wore a suit to the fully professional studio, played one drum hit, one piano chord at a time, some other elements, and that was a wrap. The tech guys assembled the song and put in his little "samples" so he could get credits on every channel of audio. That kind of thing is so commonplace, it did not even occur to them what they were really admitting to, right there on camera, for all to see.

I agree its all nuance. A song can be entirely made up of samples, have one sample in it, or you track down every single element.

At the end of the day the song will be squished down to the same 2 tracks as all of us. Who cares? If you enjoyed making it with the tools you want to use good on you!!

This statement applies to any forum and any discipline pretty much. The groundbreaking people in every area, technology, music, sculpting, painting, science, mathematics etc etc..... all learned the rules and broke them. Sure there are recipes for any style, genre or technique in any discipline, but nothing new was ever created by regurgitating what already exists.

i dont get why everyone is complaining about using samples let alone synthesizer presets or other presets of any vst it depends on how creative you are and what you do with it not everyone is able to make everything from scratch and you know what a lot of people here on the forum download warez from the sister site and then start complaining for using samples how ridiculous is that

Now I’m happy with my lot, I’ve got enough material to structure a whole track, will probably need to bring in more samples or play a few things in later on, we’ll see, up to me, I can do anything I’m capable of, whatever is best for the track.
