What's the best way to get data out of a K2000 sample CD?

For example Sweetwater Sound Arsenal K2000 and ProRec-Mega Synth Kurzweil k2000.

I tried extracting them with Chicken Translator and few other things but no success so far.

 

Translator should work, what was the issue with using it?

 

post on the news site mentions using CDextract4 for it, but that some sounds won't work. Is this maybe due to needing the original ROM from the actual sampler? Someone on GS mentioned using Awave worked for this, but also a "kind of works" thing.

Instead of people guessing what else you already tried, maybe try the opposite.

 

This was about a month ago, but I think I tried some Linux tools (raw dumps, bchunk, different image convertors) and just dumping the contents, also I think PowerISO and IsoBuster. Also I tried a few things as suggested by ChatGPT but that just lead me astray even more.

I can't remember the exact error but basically I'm trying to convert the cue/bin into an ISO, and it just shows a few files but I can't get anything extracted. I'm not sure if the problem is in the bin/cue->ISO conversion, non-standard CD format, or just me being a dummy.

I've actually deleted the .iso files I got somewhat working so I'll have to rebuild them and I will update with the actual error message.

As @clone already suggested, you need "CDXtract" to extract AKAI. Akai is a separate format.

Thanks @clone and others for the help. CDXtract immediately read the directory structure, and the first samples extracted successfully!

 

Yeah, its a good batch converter for sure but IIRC CDXtract doesn't work with .nrg files, which many old sample CD's are formatted in. They need pre-conversion. I remember struggling to get those properly converted to ISO when all search results said Winrar, PowerISO would work, they didnt or I did it wrong as it wasnt intuitive processing them. After trying so many different "solutions" I forget which one actually worked in the end so I dunno

For shits and giggles I just tried extracting an old USB Soundscan vol.21 - Fresh Disco House 2 .nrg file using Winrar and there is no option to do so, only add to archives, which doesn't convert or do anything but put the file inside a Rar file doh. No right click mount option either, PowerISO not liking it. Maybe it was Nero softy I used in the past, cant remember

 

This is all amazing, Isobuster is a cool program, these two should also work against Nero's Revenge!

Ok this is bugging the shit out of me now

nrg2iso - installed and tried using it. Says it converted the file but the resulting file was also named .nrg and CDXtract wont open it. Tried renaming to .iso, also didnt work. Tried mounting (which appeared in the right click menu after "conversion"), but error saying file corrupted. Tried using Winrar right click options which now expanded, same result "file corrupted", archived then tried extracting, same thing etc.

 

.NRG is a Nero disc image, Winrar cant read them, you need some disk image converter to ISO software or disk image reader with NRG support software (https://www.izarc.org/) or Extreme Sample Converter that understands these images

 

forgot to add, IZArc gives me a popup "disable ad blocker" blah...

Ta. This didnt work either. All extract did was create an empty folder. Tried converting options, error saying file cant be converted. Was able to convert via second nrg to iso menu option, but CDXtract doesn't recognize and wont open the files. Mount, Winrar, same errors.

 

Could someone kindly try converting this from nrg to iso and finally wave, then let me know what was used-how you did it? This is making me nuts!!

Sorry op if hijacking your thread, although it is related in some ways and you seem to have already found your fix

 

I assume that the image you have is corrupted or made with errors.
Upload it somewhere so I could look through it or I suggest two more tools to try: https://anyburn.com/download.php and https://github.com/crystalidea/anytoiso-public

Bare in mind that it could be an AKAI disk and you need special software that reads AKAI disks windows can't do that without some help
