Thank you for the article from lenovo. Will read that later :)

I had the chance to try out the older lenovo yoga Pro i7. I think one year ago. It was really a very good TouchPad. Got some MacBook feeling with it. So I think I start some research for the lenovo yoga Pro devices.
Should be enough to do some light projects on the move or so some basic video editing.

Good choice for the Lenovo Yoga - good price-performance ratio. Nice product design and good heat management.
I've attached a link for price orientation and also a link to the AMD Ryzen™ PRO 8040 series mobile processors and their performance.

    Yoga Pro 7 Gen 9 (14" AMD) 993,65 €

Now they're sticking the AI label on everything because people are crazy about it. Finally, the robots are coming that are supposed to improve your life. Maybe the programmers or the inventors of the new business model are intelligent, otherwise it's artificial stupidity (KS).

The manufacturers are only interested in sales and profits. In addition, new products are usually not error-free and expensive.

so you make a thread title "BEST PC LAPTOP FOR MUSIC" but then ask for "GOOD AFFORDABLE FOR GAMES AND DAW" - make up your mind ffs
    :deep_facepalm:

one of best PC laptops for serious work nowadays may be HP ZBook Fury 16 G11 with i9-14900HX, 128 GB DDR5, 2 TB M.2 SSD Gen4 NVMe, RTX 5000 Ada 16GB,
is it affordable? no. affordable for games? probably yes but not best value. needed for Reaper? most likely not.

so truth to be told, CPU with at least 6 performance cores, 2x DDR5 RAM slots, 1x M.2 NVME PCIe 4.0 slot you could upgrade later are solid start, if you want to play games then you should look for at least 12GB dedicated graphics card,
oh and don't underestimate cooling, keyboard, display since you'd be using those all the time,
check my signature, is a fairly old desktop PC, rock-solid for what you want, and look for a laptop of comparable or better specs

I worked in a company that gave me those, military specs. Sturdy as rock, heavy and bulky, expensive like gold, but poor in performance (it was about 2005).
I wouldn't get it unless punched hard when win apps crash.
Now I got only a toughbook cap gadget that became a diy reflex ball component.

    THE PROMISE:
Quote: "Our technology has been tested according to military standards (MIL-STD) and industry guidelines and is resistant to drops and impacts, water, vibrations, extreme temperatures, electromagnetic interference and much more."

What does it actually look like in practice? Our crisis-proof AudioSex journalist Brain2.0 reported directly from the crisis area:

From military practice, our frontline soldiers report the following scenario:

While the enemy is using a super-fast Intel processor from the latest generation and has you in their sights much faster, you wait for your notebook to finally boot up in order to calculate the course of the first salvo, bad luck, you were too slow....!

P.S.: If necessary, you can use the laptop as a bullet catcher in the event of a defense.
Our soldiers report that they are excellent as a surface for spreading bread and writing field mail.

True, i also don´t like that. All this Copilot PC Bullshit sucks. Productive PCs needs Ghz per Core on all Cores.
BUUUUT: I think and i hope, we can get some very cool CPUs, like the M Chips for Windows soon.
I need to say, that the power of this small M4 chip is incredible.
I Have a Ipad Pro with the m4 and easily doing 4k with Davinci Resolve.
I´m a bit feared, that the mobile CPUs with Windows cannot handle this so well.
Sure, Apple Software is very optimized, but W11 is not that bad when you remove all the Spyware.

And what i saw about ARM= Don´t put your fingers in that. You burn yourself. I think someone also wrote some words about that here.
I made this experience with Parallels. Some Exe Files dont work, because its a ARM Emulation.

So i think the only light CPU solutions actually are: Intel Ultra, Ryzen "AI" and for me also a normal AMD mobile.
I really don´t like intel anymore. Their Cores are bad. Amd provides more Ghz.

    PAST

Let us consider the early days when the Windows/ Mac computer entered our lives, are you still remembering? At that time everything was new, little memory and speed and then it went steeply and quickly. Today we already have high -end products. We have come very far and we do not let our computers and our data take into account the corporations.

    FUTURE

People who are born soon all grow up in a digital world, where fast processors are already there, tons of music.
Ki is probably the hit of the next century. I'm curious what music the upcoming generation will make worth it and will it be good?

True. I could spend many words about the AI music topic.
I don't think that music, coming from AI give me something.
But I like to have the possibility that AI can support me in some tasks. For example GPT.
I also like some few tools in audio production which can support me to find chords or additional melodies.

But the basics should come outside from human

    Back to topic :)
I checked your AMD Ryzen 8000 series thread. Looks very good. They also mention AI functions for Davinci Resolve. Davinci also mentions a lot about there AI functions. But ja. Everything sounds cool and much advertising.

Actually I search a device to replace the IPad.
When I find a 14 inch notebook with touch Display and the AMD 8440HS I'll let you know here.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A15 or Lenovo Legion 5 are great affordable options for gaming and using Reaper. Both have strong CPUs, 16GB RAM, and good GPUs like the RTX 3060. They handle multitasking well and offer great value.

If for music and music only:
    - used/new Thinkpad T-series if you're on tight budget, Ryzen iGPU are quite good for light gaming
    - Mac if you're not on tight budget and you want less stress
    It's that simple.

Thank you very much my friend. To answer to my very old entry

I bought a MacBook pro 14 inch with the M4 Pro.
Best decision I made since years.
This small m4 Pro chip is a beast, when the software is optimized.

So my Audio Projects are easy to handle for it.
I also play my windows Games via Crossover.

Even if i'm a windows guy, Mac laptops have an edge with audio : Apple maintain (for now) a certain "audio stability" on their devices (mac, ipad ...).
You get less probability to have an "audio lemon" with Apple than any other laptop maker.

About laptops, i stay with HP and Lenovo "enterprise grade" (second hand). For now, no bad surprise.
I'm less and less ASUS ... some suspicious behavior and no real "enterprise grade" from them.

I've seen too many ASUS laptops die compared to HP / Lenovo enterprise.

What about Alienware (by Dell) ?

    Bottom line is low DPC.

I feel that any laptop designed for gaming (especially flight simulation) will be suitable for DAW work.

OP should also mention, if he is planning on heavy sessions.

i noticed for smaller sample based sessions with lesser FX plugins, most of the midrange notebook are doing good.
800€-1100€ - unless the manufacture hasnt fucked up how to properly cool the notebook. :deep_facepalm:

having a refurbished (enterprise?) Dell Latitude here (as it came, its SSD had 69TB written (over 5 years), had to replace this one, but otherwise the cooling is super good and efficient!
it reaches under heavy load 105C, then CPU reduces Clockrate and keep it at that.)

the other Lenovo, which i had, newer module, totally new, had serious cooling issues. it didnt turn off itself as it reached critical temps.
