Hello everyone. This is a demonstration of a very good plugin.

What noise reduction plugins do you use?

Most seem ok when the signal is relatively strong and its just wind or 'noise.' I just finished a demo track yesterday using about 2 minutes of dialog from 20ish sources originally recorded in varying mediums and spanning 70 ish years, all of the audio had at least 2 issues throughout and many had 3+ constant issues as well as momentary flaws. Now, granted I'm green at trying to clean this much audio this screwed up but from what I tried only the suites had enough tools and control to fix it (and I still have some corrections to make and... oh god.. actually unifying it all...ugh). Had a go with Audacity, editing in Ableton arrangement, Accentize, and Acorn Denoise... Those solutions where fine for straight forward tasks, but didn't come close to comparing to Izotope RX or Steinberg Spectral otherwise.

I would have loved all my clips to have such strong dialog signals all nice and present like in that vid.

Izotope RX is my favorite. Different approach for different noise problems.

Not bad, but still artifacts a lot when it comes to wind.

My best two picks would be Clarity VX by waves, Dialogue Isolate in RX11 (it's better than 10), and a special noise reduction longevity award goes to Waves C1 Comp Gate.

The question is always "the best (whatever)?" Half of the variations of it are subjective. Cedar plugins probably are the best, or very close to the top of the list; but they are over $300 for each plugin. They are the gold standard maybe, and those BorisFX/Crumplepop plugins are up there too. For most uses, RX is good enough. Waves are still very good.

The only one I use that won't end up on most peoples' list is Antares SoundSoap. Someone liberated it from the Mac subscription-only scenario, and I still use it when I do not want to bother using an external wave editor in my DAW. Sometimes I want a "lo-fi" result and it can help with that too. But that is usually a music decision, not a more technical one.

The results are quite good considering the strong noise. The only one that comes close to this level is Acon Digital Extract:Dialogue, which probably introduces just a tiny bit more artifacts but costs $99.

In my opinion, you're right! In some of my other videos, Acon was the main workhorse.

But unlike Sonnox, UAD, etc. they charge full "HD, DSP" plugin prices for many of their regular native versions too. I guess users who actually need them likely don't even care about the prices.

I've tested this many times over the years and in my testing SpectraLayers 11-12 is without a doubt the absolute best at removing noise and hum without artifacts from all audio files. Klevgrand Brusfri came in second and for a small plugin is nice, yet limited. For dialog I love Hush.ai for removing trucks, helicopters, dogs barking, and other loud background sounds like magic.

With most denoisers artefacts can be a problem (I like Acon Digital and Bertom), especially when denoising vocals and noise is between ~1-5kHz - the "very sensitive range". In that case it's better to use a gate (or expander!) with shortest attack, relatively long release, and range set to about -10 to -20dB. Always give a chance to a gate or expander first for most natural sounding denoising.

On the other hand, denoisers can sound very interesting when used as an effect. Have you ever tried that?

For dynamic background noise, or whatever other shit in background including winds, music, cars or whatever and still maintain full quality without "spectral artifacts", try Spectralayers 12.

For more static noise all de-noise plugins are ok... Waves De-noise, Clarity Vx, Izotope RX De-noise etc

Different de-noisers works good with different audio sources.... so try yourself.

I've had very impressive results with dxRevive. We're talking about audio that is beyond saving, where noise is actually higher than the actual voice.

I'm working on the soundtrack of a movie and the director sent me some footage to salvage because the editing couldn't. They wanted to save as much as possible and only ADR the least possible. I was honestly very impressed by the results.

I also forgot I had a "trial" of Supertone Clear, so I'm going to run it through and compare. Sadly, I can't share the results for obvious reasons. Even with permission to share some of the pre/post scene audio, I'm still not comfortable enough to share since it would doxx my location.

Edit: actually some even more interesting results by combining Clear with dxRevive. By getting dxRevive to sound the best before it gets unnatural, I can add Clear after and clean up just a couple more db of noise before it sounds bad again. Since we're talking about footage that is bad enough to be scrapped, I think this is a win.
