Indeed regarding Geist, now that's the one you should install, it's awesome. I just wish they would have continued to support it.

i do seem to torment myself unneccisarily a lot!
in standalone mode it opens, but my problem there is i cant load any sounds
for example along left i select kits, then in right i see acoustic dance, ethnic etc. i click on dance and then those categories acoustic dance, ethnic etc. move to left with nothing on right
if i click on dance when its in right they all dissapear and only thing left in left pane is parent directory

I use Guru jbridged in Ableton 11.
Use it a lot more than Geist (version 1, never tried 2).

PS: Still love Guru so much (one of my most used plugins ever).

Unfortunately Cubase doesn't show many jbridged 32bit plugins, I have tried every single way no result.
I recommend using something like CAT or similar .
I personally use Ableton 11 with jbridge. It just works just fine, except old Vsti and early releases from early '00 .
I don't like the fact that we can't use 32bit in 2025 DAW without any hustle! just because the developer want to !?,
    Kind of not fair.

If you have this version, you should install the STANDALONE and try it out!
Fxpansion Guru STADALONE VSTi RTAS v1.6.12 DVD9 WORKiNG-ASSiGN

If the STANDALONE doesn't work either, Guru is no longer functional.

Well, if Windows keeps releasing updates and the manufacturer, FXpansion, doesn't provide any updates at all, it could well be that's why it's not working.

Fxpansion Guru STADALONE VSTi RTAS v1.6.12 DVD9 WORKiNG-ASSiGN

    iNSTALLATiON

    1.Uninstall previous installations.
    2.Unrar.
    3.Burn or mount ISO.
    4.Run "setup.exe" and install Guru.
    5.Copy "GURUData" to somewhere.
    6.Run "LOCATOR.exe" in "GURUData".
    7.Enjoy this working release.

FXpansion GURU is a drum machine and beat production software originally released for Windows XP and 2000, with support for 32-bit systems in its early versions25. The installer for FXpansion GURU v1.6.12 is specifically labeled as VST for WIN OSX x86, where "x86" denotes 32-bit compatibility5.

Windows 10 32-bit (OC = Operating System) maintains a high level of compatibility with older 32-bit Windows applications, especially those designed for Windows XP, Vista, or 713. There are no known architectural barriers that would prevent GURU from running on Windows 10 32-bit, as long as your hardware meets the minimum requirements and you have compatible audio drivers installed913. Users have also reported that GURU installs and runs without issues on modern Windows systems, though some very old VST plugins may have problems in the latest DAWs8.

If you encounter any issues, you can try running the installer or executable in compatibility mode for Windows XP or Windows 7, which is a standard troubleshooting step for legacy software on newer Windows versions712.

    Summary Table

Software 32-bit Windows 10 Support Notes
FXpansion GURU Yes Use compatibility mode if needed25813
    Conclusion:
FXpansion GURU works in Windows 10 32-bit, provided you use a 32-bit version of the software. For best results, install as administrator and use compatibility settings if you encounter any issues257813.
Your situation—trying to use FXpansion Guru (32-bit) in Cubase 14 Pro via jBridge—is challenging due to several compatibility issues that have become more pronounced in recent Cubase versions.

    Key Points
    • Cubase 14 Pro still technically supports VST2 plugins, but this support is now disabled by default. You must manually enable VST2 in the Plugin Manager for any jBridged plugins to appear and work357.

    • jBridge can allow some 32-bit plugins to run in 64-bit Cubase, but it is not guaranteed to work with all plugins, especially older or more complex ones like Guru21.

    • Runtime errors and crashes (like the one you described: "this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way") are common when bridging unstable or incompatible plugins, particularly if they have dependencies or were designed for much older Windows versions48.
    Troubleshooting Steps
    1. Enable VST2 in Cubase 14:
      • Go to Plugin Manager.

      • Enable VST2 support (look for the option in the lower left corner)35.

      • Rescan your VST folders.
    2. Run Both Cubase and jBridge as Administrator:
      • Right-click both executables and select Run as administrator. This can resolve some permission and runtime issues9.
    3. Check jBridge Version:
      • Use the latest version of jBridge (v1.74 or newer). Older versions may not work reliably with modern Cubase9.
    4. Standalone Guru Issues:
      • The problem where you can't load sounds in standalone mode suggests either a missing content/library path or a corrupted installation. Try reinstalling Guru and make sure all factory content is correctly installed and accessible.
    5. Guru in Cubase Still Not Loading:
      • Some plugins simply do not bridge well, especially if they rely on deprecated Windows components or have complex file access needs.

      • If you have Geist 2 (the successor to Guru), consider using it instead, as it is 64-bit and better supported.
    6. Alternative Workarounds:
      • Some users keep an older Cubase version (like 8.5 or 13) installed specifically for legacy projects and plugins1.

      • Consider running Guru in standalone mode and routing audio/MIDI into Cubase via virtual cables if plugin mode is unworkable.
    Community Experience
    • Some users report success with jBridge in Cubase 14 for other 32-bit plugins, but others (especially with older or less common plugins) encounter persistent issues135.

    • The specific runtime error you mention is a known symptom of deeper incompatibility, often with plugins that haven't been updated in many years.
    Summary Table
    Step Action Reference
    Enable VST2 in Cubase 14 Plugin Manager > Enable VST2 35
Run as Administrator Both Cubase and jBridge 9
Use Latest jBridge v1.74 or newer 9
Check Guru Content Reinstall, verify sound library paths (inference)
Consider Older Cubase/Geist 2 For legacy plugin support 1
    Conclusion
jBridge can work in Cubase 14 Pro for some plugins, but FXpansion Guru is particularly problematic. The runtime error and inability to load sounds suggest deeper compatibility issues that may not be fully resolvable. If you must use Guru, your best bet is to run it in an older Cubase version or try standalone mode with MIDI/audio routing. Otherwise, consider upgrading to Geist 2 or another modern sampler for a smoother experience1356.
The runtime error you encounter when using FXpansion Guru (32-bit) with jBridge in Cubase 14 Pro is a common issue linked to compatibility between the old 32-bit plugin, the jBridge wrapper, and the latest Cubase environment.

How to Fix or Mitigate the Runtime Error
    1. Enable VST2 Support in Cubase 14
Cubase 14 disables VST2 plugins by default, which affects all bridged 32-bit plugins.
      • Open Plugin Manager in Cubase.

      • Look at the bottom left corner and enable VST2 support.

      • Rescan plugins.
This step is essential for jBridged plugins to appear and load properly2.
    2. Run Cubase and jBridge as Administrator
Running both Cubase and the jBridge executable with administrator privileges can resolve permission-related runtime errors3.

    3. Use the Latest Version of jBridge
Make sure you have the most recent jBridge release (v1.74 or newer). Older versions have known bugs and incompatibilities with modern DAWs and Windows versions5.

    4. Adjust jBridge Settings
Some users report that enabling “sluggish GUI hack” or other options in jBridge settings helps stabilize bridged plugins and reduce crashes5.

    5. Check for Conflicts with My Documents Folder
jBridge creates folders in the Windows “My Documents” directory. If this folder is networked or restricted (common in work computers), it can cause crashes. If possible, use a local user profile or adjust folder permissions5.

    6. Reinstall Guru and Verify Content Paths
In standalone mode, Guru’s inability to load sounds may be due to missing or misconfigured sample libraries. Reinstall Guru and ensure all content is correctly installed and accessible4.

    7. Consider Alternative Workarounds
      • Use an older Cubase version (e.g., Cubase 13) where jBridge and Guru worked without issues2.

      • Run Guru standalone and route audio/MIDI into Cubase externally.

      • Use a 32-bit VST host plugin (like Plogue Bidule or Xlutop Chainer) bridged by jBridge, then load Guru inside that host to reduce direct bridging issues5.
    8. Check for Visual C++ Redistributable Issues
Some runtime errors (like R6025) are caused by missing or incompatible Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables. Ensure your system has the latest Visual C++ runtime libraries installed6.
    Summary
Problem Area Recommended Fix or Workaround
Cubase disables VST2 by default Enable VST2 in Plugin Manager2
Permission/runtime errors Run Cubase and jBridge as Administrator3
Outdated jBridge version Update to latest jBridge release5
jBridge folder access issues Use local profile or adjust permissions5
Guru standalone sound loading Reinstall Guru and verify sample libraries4
Persistent runtime errors Use older Cubase, or bridged 32-bit host plugin25
    Visual C++ runtime errors Install/update Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables6
    Final Note
Due to the age of Guru and its 32-bit architecture, jBridge is a workaround but not a guaranteed fix. Many users report partial success but also frequent crashes or runtime errors. If you depend heavily on Guru, consider maintaining an older DAW setup or upgrading to a modern 64-bit sampler like FXpansion Geist 2.

If the runtime error persists despite these steps, it likely reflects fundamental incompatibilities between Guru, jBridge, and Cubase 14’s modern environment.

    -Uninstall all (even libraries)
-run ALL installers in "administrator" mode AND in "XP compatibility mode"

@funkman, try installing both the plugin and the library under C:/ (not in C./Program Files)!
You can also create a folder with GURU in C:/!

    Example:
    C:\FXpansion Guru VSTi
    C:\FXpansion Guru Library

    FXpansion.Guru.STADALONE.VSTi.RTAS.v1.6.12.DVD9.WORKiNG-ASSiGN

    iNSTALLATiON

    1.Uninstall previous installations.
    2.Unrar.
    3.Burn or mount ISO.
    4.Run "setup.exe" and install Guru.
    5.Copy "GURUData" to somewhere.
    6.Run "LOCATOR.exe" in "GURUData".
    7.Enjoy this working release.

    * WORKiNG NOTE *
Previous AiR's release does not work. Guru has a BlackList protection, then we release this working cracked version.
Note that our release includes all v1.5 extra contents, enjoy!

I do not see it mentioned, but you need to install FXpansion License Manager v2.0.1 from R2R. Did you do that?
