Bought a Toshiba X300 last month to use for backups but it was physically too large for my other enclosures since I thought it would fit a sata ssd enclosure, will this one fit and does a 3.5 inch hard drive mean it’s 3 inches thick?

https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Lay-Flat-Docking-EC-DFFN/dp/B013WODZH0Amazon.com: SABRENT USB 3.0 to SATA External Hard Drive Lay Flat Docking Station with Built in Cooling Fan for 2.5 or 3.5in HDD, SSD [Support UASP and 22TB] (EC-DFFN) : Electronics

Want to make sure before I buy so I know I purchased the right size for this and any new hard drives that may be needed in the far future

The enclosure will do just fine.
Hard disk drives come in two sizes and they are distinguished by the diameter of their platter inside the drive. The larger ones usually used in desktops and servers are 3.5" and the smaller ones commonly used in laptops are 2,5". Recent years saw the arrival of ssds as mainstream storage media and these come in all form factors including 2.5", the commonly used in desktops m.2. and some more exotic like U.2 (equivalent to 3.5" in size), E.1 (also known as ruler format) used in server/workstations etc.
    Cheers

the Sabrent enclosure is fine and a good choice, the cooling fan is a real plus I have had mine for over 2 years.

Ok thanks, will order now, hoping it could fit multiple drives if it has connections for sata ssds and smaller hard drives but I’m fine with one at a time right now

I wanted this one because it has a fan, if I put an ssd in it in the future it’ll help since they need some extra cooling but this will help with just keeping my hard drive lasting longer
