Dear audiosexers, anyone knows where this 'ah' sound is from?
It's an iconic 'ah' sound used in Trance tracks.
Maybe from 'Zero-G; Datafile Vol. 1, 2, 3' or from an Emulator I/II/III?
I could extract this sound and sample it, but I prefer to get the original source.
    Thanks for helping!

I'm not sure, but I'd guess one of the early Nexus expansions might have it or something very close.

look up something called a formant filter, in sound design its a filter that creates vowel sounds like that out of the resonances: "ah's" are one of the vowels like in your examples

Delay Lama makes your computer sound and look like a singing Tibetan monk. Delay Lama is the first software synthesizer that features both vocal synthesis and a real-time 3D animated interface, which dynamically reacts to musical gestures from the user.

To control the pitch and vowel sound (ooh-ow-ah-ayh-eeh), either a MIDI keyboard with pitchbender, or the built-in XY-controller can be used. For an extra mystical effect, Delay Lama has a simple stereo delay.

i think this came from a KORG sampler or something?

the vengeance club sounds series (one of the early versions) has a few one shots.

And i think Nexus complete might have a preset based on the vengeance one shots.

try arturia CMI V or any Fairlight plugin. There is a classic sample, i believe arturia calls it sarraa or something like that.

Thank you all! I've tried some of your suggestions.

    - "nexus preset BINARY VOICE in factory patch list": There is no BINARY VOICE in factory (I'm having Nexus 5 Factory Content Library installed)

    - "I think this came from a KORG sampler or something?": I searched about it, asking AI. Could also be a Roland JV-1080, which has similar patch, but not exact the one I'm looking for. KI made a .syx file, and said I can import it into Roland Cloud JV-1080, but nope. You can't import .syx files into Roland Cloud JV-1080. It also wrote me the manual on how to make it, but I didn't do it yet. This might be the original source of this sound (KORG or Roland).

    - "vengeance club sounds series (one of the early versions)" - YES! I found a sample which is very close, if not the same Kai Tracid used. I need to check again. There are so many sounds, but not named properly. All samples are called 'sound #' or something like that. The 1st release came out in 2005. Kai Tracids song is from 2001. So this can't be the original source.

    - "arturia CMI V or any Fairlight plugin. There is a classic sample, i believe arturia calls it sarraa or something like that.": I found that preset aaand.. it's more like Art of Noise, moments in love - and that's cool!

Need more time to check the rest. Thanks again, very helpful! Have a great weekend you all!

My first "to go" would be NEXUS, it has that Vengeance/ReFX sterile quality to it.
Otherwise it's just a vocal "Ah" snippet played in a sampler, there's nothing fancy to it.

So all the older Nexus 1/2/3/4 and especially 2 factory content is inside the Nexus 5 factory library? Or does it need like the factory library from an older version because they’re separate?

this is one of my favorite presets on any Arturia softsynth, the Aah sound from the CMI emulation. Used it already in a few tracks :goodpost:

Besides 'Nexus 5 factory library' I also had to install older factory libraries 3+4.
Now 'Binary Voice' is there

Listening to the presets on youtube. Obviously, Queen used the M1  Will check it later myself.

    So if nexus 2’s factory library isn’t in 5, it’s in 3 or 4?

It´s definitly in the old Legacy Nexus 2 presets.
I also liked it a lot.

I don´t know how to get these, but Vengeance and ReFX made a lot of presets of this kind :)

Korg M1 sounds interesting, maybe give it a try too :)

It originally appeared on the Fairlight CMI, and most other sources just sampled it from that.

It originally appeared in a human lungs, got shaped by a throat, tongue and mouth and then got sampled from that
Its just a female saying "Ah" and has nothing to do with Fairlight CMI. It's a NEXUS preset 100 billion %, they have dozen of similar sounding presets just with a different flavor and you can hear it being drenched in delay and reverb, typical for NEXUS, and that reverb together with that polished but plastic and lifeless quality instantly gives it away and makes it recognizable. Not to mention that these are Trance producers in those videos, probably all of their sounds is just Nexus.

    I need to disagree here.
I grow up with early trance.
Kai Tracid, Binary Finary etc..Was before 2000s
There was no Nexus yet. But many songs used this sample this time. And I liked them a lot :)
