    Slop for slop:

While ChatGPT is an incredibly powerful language model, it cannot directly "record and master" a hit song in the traditional sense. Here's why and what it can do:
    What ChatGPT CAN'T do:
    * Produce audio: ChatGPT is a text-based AI. It doesn't have ears, microphones, instruments, or digital audio workstations (DAWs) to capture, process, or mix sound.
    * Understand emotional nuance deeply: While it can analyze sentiment in lyrics, it doesn't possess the human intuition, lived experience, and emotional intelligence that are crucial for truly conveying emotion through music and performance, or for making nuanced mastering decisions.
    * Replace human artistry: Hit songs are often the result of unique artistic vision, improvisation, and collaborative chemistry that AI cannot replicate.
What ChatGPT CAN do (and where other AI tools come in):
    * Lyric Generation: ChatGPT excels at writing lyrics, song titles, and even entire song concepts based on prompts. It can generate lyrics in various styles, genres, and themes.
    * Song Structure and Ideas: It can provide advice on song structure (verse-chorus-bridge), suggest chord progressions, melodies, and even instrumentation suitable for a particular genre.
    * Creative Inspiration: When facing writer's block, ChatGPT can be a brainstorming partner, offering new angles, themes, or starting points for a song.
    * Music Theory Advice: It can explain music theory concepts, analyze existing songs, and offer suggestions based on theoretical principles.
    * Production Advice (Text-Based): ChatGPT can advise on mixing and mastering techniques, recommend plugins, or suggest workflow improvements for a DAW. However, this is purely textual advice, not the actual execution.
Where other AI tools come into play for recording and mastering:
The "recording and mastering" aspects are handled by specialized AI music production tools, not ChatGPT itself. These tools can:
    * Generate Melodies, Harmonies, and Beats: AI composers like AIVA or Amper Music can create original musical elements based on user input (mood, genre, tempo).
    * Automated Mixing: AI mixing tools can analyze tracks and automatically adjust levels, EQ, compression, and other effects to achieve a balanced mix.
    * Intelligent Mastering: AI mastering services (like Ditto Music Mastering or Landr) can analyze a final mix and apply the necessary processing to make it "radio-ready" for various platforms.
    * Vocal Generation/Manipulation: Some AI tools can generate vocals, transform existing vocal recordings, or even create backing harmonies.
    In summary:
ChatGPT can be a powerful assistant in the songwriting and pre-production phases, offering creative ideas and technical advice. However, the actual "recording and mastering" still requires dedicated audio software and, for a "hit song," the crucial touch of human producers, engineers, and artists who bring emotional depth, nuanced decision-making, and a unique artistic vision to the table.
So, while AI is rapidly advancing in music production, a truly "hit" song still benefits immensely from human creativity and expertise.

Try. If it becomes a hit, yes. If it doesn't, no

Yes it can, it just got me my second swimming pool in my mansion. I'd laugh all the way to the bank, but I used a LLM to script my transactions and synthesize the laugh.

Ain't it easy & simple these days?

Great question — here’s a clear breakdown of what I can and can’t do when it comes to creating a hit song:

What ChatGPT Can Do for a Song:
    Songwriting Help

    • Lyrics (any style or genre)

    • Song structure (verse, chorus, bridge)

    • Melody ideas (in note or MIDI format)

    • Chord progressions

    • Hook writing

    • Genre-specific techniques

    • Matching a certain artist's style or vibe
    Production Advice

    • Recommend plugins, DAWs (e.g., Ableton, FL Studio)

    • Guide arrangement (intro → verse → drop, etc.)

    • Mixing/mastering tips

    • Vocal processing chain suggestions

    • Sound design techniques for synths, drums, etc.

    • Music theory guidance
    Marketing Strategy

    • Advice on building a fan base

    • Release strategy (Spotify, TikTok, etc.)

    • Social media tips

    • Press kit creation

    • Playlist pitching strategy
    Collaboration & Feedback Simulation

    • Provide simulated feedback on lyrics or audio concepts

    • Brainstorm production and branding ideas
    What ChatGPT Cannot Do (Alone):
    Record Audio
I can’t sing, rap, or play instruments myself — but I can write lyrics and provide vocal guides you can perform.

Produce or Mix in a DAW
I can guide you on how to do it — but you or someone else needs to use a DAW to produce the track.

    Generate Final Mastered Audio Files
I can tell you how to master tracks using tools like iZotope Ozone, but I can’t generate WAV/MP3s on my own.

    Guarantee a “Hit”
I can help you build a strong, polished song, but hits depend on timing, promotion, performance, and sometimes luck.

You don't need a whistle these days, we've got some fantastic soft synths on the sister site. You don't even need to be a musician to use them ;)

Some "hits" have been some very formulaic music. Formulaic music is what AI is best at generating. So sure, why not.

No. The sage scrolls of KLF instructs that you must first be skint and on the dole. ChatGPT is properly employed and with the sole purpose of acquiring and dispensing knowledge, this also explicitly displeases the Timelords masters, so sayeth the Holy Manual.

Some streaming platforms like Deezer started to ban 100% AI generated stuff, they refuse to release and publish ai songs and label them as "noise" and not music. Youtube, FB, Instagram and Tiktok have just implemented a new policy for ai generated stuff that is no longer eligible for monetization. Go find online for more info about it. Good luck with your chat gpt ai generated "HIT" :winker:

And the algorithms which platforms will use for detection of anything less than "100% AI generated" do not sound vaguely reminiscent of claims about watermark detection of samples to anyone?

Probably it could because a "hit" nowdays is more about the looks and less about the music, with a good video and a good marketing strategy you could easy send things to the mainstream

The act of trying to make a hit 'simply' goes against the whole idea of being a musician.
When did it start being a wish for a 'Musician' to want No Creative Input Into Their Music Productions? - Crazy World These Days
